1. Safeguarding and Child Protection for Early Years and Childcare Practitioners

There is a Safeguarding and Child Protection for Early Years and Childcare Practitioners course on Thursday 14 June between 9.30am – 3.00pm at Durban House, Bognor Regis.

The aim of this course is to provide you with skills and confidence to recognise the signs and symptoms of abuse and know local procedures if you have a concern about a child.

By the end of the day you will be able to:

  • Identify the four areas of abuse and signs and indicators and how this may present to them.
  • Identify the key documents to support their role in safeguarding and where to find these.
  • Show an awareness of the importance of acting on safeguarding concerns and how to do this.
  • Identify what key messages they will be taking back to their settings about Safeguarding.

This course is free if you are part of the Early Years training and Support Programme Subscription Scheme.

Early Years and Childcare settings who are not part of the training subscription can pay £50 per place for this course. 


2. Prevent for Early Years Settings

There is a Prevent for Early Years Practitioners course on Monday 18 June between 9.30am – 1.30pm at Durban House, Bognor Regis.

The aim of this course is to provide you with knowledge of the National Prevent Duty and to help the understanding of your responsibilities are and how to comply in ways that are practical and relevant.

By the end of the day you will be able to:

  • Raise awareness of some of the issues surrounding the prevention of radicalisation and violent extremism. 
  • Raise awareness around vulnerability, radicalisation and safeguarding. 
  • Recognise the need and understand processes for support and protection of susceptible or vulnerable people. 
  • Identify potential opportunities where guidance or intervention may be necessary. 
  • Raise awareness of how educational settings can implement the Prevent Duty.

On Saturday 23 June Hampshire County Council and Job Centre Plus are running a Early Years Education and Childcare Workforce Recruitment Event.
