Closure for final stage of junction work
The junction of Easthampstead Road and Heathlands Road will be fully closed from Monday (16 March) to 10 April.
This is the final stage of our realignment project at this junction, which sits opposite the new link road.
During the closure, we will be reconstructing Easthampstead Road. This means the road is being dug up and so it’s not possible to safely allow vehicles to pass through while the work is carried out.
There will be doing the final surfacing on Heathlands Road, as well as some utility work. There will also be drainage and paving repair work.
Prior to this, Easthampstead Road will be closed from 13 to 16 March for Openreach works.
This has been timed to align with Finchampstead Road being open again during the daytime, ahead of night works on the new roundabout, which will run from 16 to 28 March.
From 13 April, Easthampstead Road will be closed between Star Lane and Heathlands Road until early 2027, with a diversion in place for vehicles.
Diversion routes: How to navigate the closure
Alternative routes for drivers affected by the closure are as follows:

A reminder of what we're doing at this junction
We're making improvements at this junction as part of the wider South Wokingham Distributor Road project.
The current T-junction is becoming a four-arm, traffic light-controlled junction, which will connect to the new link road. You can see more details in the map above.
This is to improve traffic flow and provide access to the new homes coming to the south of the railway line.
The road layout will change in this area, with part of Easthampstead Road being permanently closed off to form a cul-de-sac.
All northbound and southbound through traffic will instead follow the link road, rejoining Easthampstead Road near the junction with Heathlands Road.
