Travel survey – getting to work
If you live or work in Wokingham Borough, we’d like to hear about your commute to work.
How do you get to work typically? Where do you commute to, and from? What might encourage you to change your habits and potentially travel to work more sustainably? We’d like you to tell us in an annual survey.
Your answers will help us identify where we could improve the borough’s transport network – so that it’s easier for you to get to work.
The survey is open until 21 October 2025. After taking it, you can enter a prize draw and be in with a chance of winning one of three £100 Love2shop vouchers.
Travel survey – major development residents
If you live in a major development in Arborfield Green, Shinfield Parish, or North or South Wokingham – we’d like you to hear how you get about each day.
Do you walk or drive everywhere? Or do you catch the bus? We’re also interested in if you do things locally, like food shopping or going to school, if you have children.
Your answers to our annual survey will help us understand how we can continue to make your area work better for you.
The survey’s open until this Sunday, 28 September. After taking it, you could win a £100 Love2shop voucher. Good luck!
Resident parking permit proposals – last chance
You have until this Sunday, 28 September to have your say on proposals to improve the borough’s resident parking permit scheme.
We’d like to hear your view if you live in an existing, or one of the proposed new, parking permit zones in Wokingham or Twyford.
If you live in a zone, we want there to be more spaces for you to park. Alongside our survey, you can view maps of each zone.
We’re recommending six town and parish boundary changes in a Community Governance Review. The proposals would impact Arborfield Garrison, Arborfield Green, Crowthorne, Finchampstead, Lower Earley, and Wokingham town. You can have your say on recommendations until 13 November 2025.
Have your say on Winnersh Library future
We’d like to hear residents’ views on the future of library services in Winnersh.
The parish’s current library at The Forest School will close, because the school needs the space to accommodate a growing student population.
We’re proposing to give the library a new, temporary home at Rainbow Community and Children’s Centre before relocating it to Winnersh Community Centre. But what do you think?
The current library could close, and no replacement could be provided. Or, following a delay to allow for building works, the library could move to Winnersh Community Centre, without a temporary stay at Rainbow Community and Children’s Centre to fill what could be up to a one-year gap.
Our consultation on Winnersh Library is open until 15 October 2025.
Have you checked your electoral details?
We’re reminding remaining residents to respond to the annual canvass, and check that their electoral registration details are up to date and correct.
If you forget to, you risk losing your vote and voice in future elections. All borough households have now been contacted by post or email as part of the canvass, and only seven per cent of households have not responded.
If you haven't responded, our canvassers will follow up with you shortly either in person or by telephone.
You can also respond to the annual canvass online using unique security codes included on the form you will have already received by email or post.
We want residents’ views on a draft neighbourhood plan for Charvil, which has been drafted by its Parish Council. If adopted, the plan will help determine planning applications and appeals in the parish. Charvil residents can have their say until 13 October 2025.
You said, we did – adult social care
More flexible public transport, and helping hire new staff are just two of the achievements from collaborative working in adult social care.
Social Care Future is helping change how adults with disabilities live in Wokingham Borough.
It enables people who use these services to partner with providers, community groups and us to shape support they need.
Progress which has been made was showcased at a council meeting where an update was given by residents who have contributed to work done so far. Highlights included:
- More than 1,300 supporters of the Social Care Future programme
- Almost 200 people attending community conversation events to identify service priorities
- Extension of concessionary travel times for people with disabled bus passes
- Lived expert interview bank, helping recruit the right people to support residents
