Follow along with election results today
Thanks to everyone who voted in yesterday’s local and Police and Crime Commissioner elections.
We’ll be verifying and counting ballots from 9am today, with the results results from the borough council elections coming from later this morning onwards.
These are the biggest local elections in the borough since 2004, with all seats up for grabs. Here’s where you can follow along:
Police and Crime Commissioner voting will be counted for the borough on Saturday. These will feed into the regional results, which are expected to be published by West Berkshire Council later on Saturday.
 Bank Holiday bin collections
Your rubbish and recycling collections will continue on the upcoming two bank holidays - 6 May and 27 May (both Mondays).
Please note our crews will start earlier than normal, at 5.30am on both dates.
Be sure to put your waste out the night before to avoid being missed, if you are due a collection.
You can always check your bin collection day on our website.
May Fayre is back in Wokingham on Monday
The Wokingham May Fayre is back on Monday (6 May) and promises a fun day for all ages.
Organised by Wokingham Lions Club, the day will run from 10am to 5pm across Elms Field, Denmark Street and Market Place. Denmark Street will be closed to vehicles most of the day to help the event run.
As with previous years, it will be a great family day out, with more than 120 stalls covering charities, local crafts, commercial and food vendors.
There will be a funfair, petting zoo, picnic areas, circus performers and children’s rides, as well as stage performances throughout the day.
The event is run to raise funds for local charities.
 Potential disruption to M4 journeys
National Highways are carrying out a retrofit to add more than 150 more emergency areas to motorways across the country.
Works are due to start on the M4 between junctions 10 (Wokingham) and 12 (Theale) from Tuesday (7 May).
Further information, including closures and diversions, are available on the National Highways website.
Industrial action on the rail network
Over the weekend and into next week, industrial action is planned on the rail network including full strikes and overtime bans.
Please check before you travel on the National Rail website.
Debt advice session to help residents
We will be at Norreys Church in Wokingham on the first Friday of each month with debt advice sessions.
The next event is being held today (Friday 3 May) from 12 noon to 2.30pm. These are free to attend and booking is encouraged but not mandatory.
Sessions are aimed specifically at helping anyone who has debts owed to the council and we will be able to signpost you to helpful organisations, such as SHARE Wokingham, The Hardship Alliance and Citizens Advice Wokingham.
