Dinton Summer Series to start soon
The popular Dinton Summer Series will start in just about two weeks. Have you signed up yet?
Now in its 12th year, the friendly 5km and 10km running series welcomes runners of all abilities aged 13 or above. This year, your little ones can also take part and share the fun in a new 2km event - specially for those aged four to 14.
The course is an off-road, traffic-free, scenic route around our flagship Dinton Pastures Country Park. You can choose the 5km option for a single loop around the course, or take on the 10km challenge by completing two laps.
The running series will start on 16 May, and continue on 20 June, 18 July and 15 August (all Thursdays, in the evening). With multiple races throughout the summer, you can track your progress and improvement.
There's still time to sign up for this summer tradition. Find out more or register on the Barnes Fitness website.
Summer Cyclo-cross returns to Dinton
Another exciting sports event will be back at Dinton Pastures in May.
Summer Cyclo-cross (Summer CX), a series of evening cycling events, is ideal for first timers and novice riders, while still offering more than enough for cyclo-cross regulars.
Dinton will be hosting the Summer CX for the fourth year on 28 May, and 11 and 25 June. There will be different categories for riders of all ages and abilities, from children aged eight or below, to teenagers, adults and seniors.
Cyclo-cross is one of the most accessible forms of cycle sport, and suitable for all levels and ages. Riders are required to complete multiple laps of a short course within a set time.
Booking is now open online. Email the organiser Sprockets Cycle Club if you have any questions.
Make every ride count
There's more about riding bikes in May - it's Bike Month Challenge!
From 1 to 31 May, download the 'Love to Ride' app, enjoy a bike ride and provide your feedback anonymously on the streets and paths you ride on.
Every ride will earn you points, whether it's to work, to a store or a spin around our parks. The more points you earn, the more chances you have to win a prize. You can also earn extra points by encouraging others to get involved.
Everyone is invited to take part, from regular riders to people who haven’t been on a bike in years (or ever).

A Date with Nature this weekend
If you've never been birdwatching before, why not give it a try with the Wokingham and Bracknell Local Group of the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds?
The group is hosting 'A Date with Nature' walk this Saturday (4 May) at Dinton Pastures. It will start at 9am in the main car park off Davis Street and finish by 12.30pm.
The monthly walk includes visits to the bird hides by Lavell's Lake in the country park, where you can see and hear the birds without disturbing them.
People of all ages are welcome. Advice is always offered to help new birdwatchers identify the different species.
A donation of £2 per adult to the charity is requested, and children are free to join.
