Dementia Action Week - 15 to 21 May 2023

 

Monday 15 May 2023 marks the start of Dementia Action Week which is Alzheimer's Society biggest and longest running awareness campaign. This year's theme is diagnosis.

If you or someone you know is concerned they or a loved one may be experiencing signs of dementia, please seek help as early as possible. Support and more information about a diagnosis is just a phone call or a click away.

Dementia Action Week events

 

Stoke-on-Trent City Council and the Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Integrated Care Board are hosting two community events during Dementia Action Week, to raise awareness of dementia and improve the lives of people affected by it. 

 

The first event is taking place at Festival Park outside Boots, Festival Retail Park, Unit 5 Ridgehouse Drive, Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent, ST1 5SJ on Monday 15 May from 10am-1pm. 

 

The second event will be at Affinity North Staffordshire, Talke, Stoke-on-Trent,
ST7 1XD on Wednesday 17 May from 10am-2pm. 

 

A number of exhibitors will be at both venues to talk about support services available within the local communities.

Reading Well for dementia

 

Staffordshire Libraries will, through displays, information provision and signposting, help to spread the word about Dementia Action Week.

As part of its Reading Well scheme, there are a number of books available that are specifically about dementia. More information about the dementia Reading Well scheme is available online. Topics range from: help and advice, living well with dementia or support for relatives and carers.
