Phonics reminder - alongside the Year 1 cohort for this summer’s phonics check, any Year 2 pupils who either did not meet the expected standard, were absent or disapplied from the check in the June 2025 phonics collection are required to retake the screening check. If the disapplication remains relevant the pupil should be returned as disapplied again in Year 2.
EYFSP Pupils transferring schools during the summer term – if a child moves schools during the summer term, schools must agree which of them will complete the Profile. In general, if a child starts at a new school on the first day of the second half of the summer term (or any time after that), then the previous school should submit the data. Please refer to page 21 of the EYFSP Profile Handbook.

Please note – we have seen from previous years that DfE websites often experience performance issues during this busy period. It is recommended, where possible, that schools do not leave it until the last minute to make their submissions so there is scope to overcome any problems encountered.
Multiplication Tables Check (MTC) administration window is from Monday 2nd to Friday 13th June 2025 and will be accessible via DfE Sign-in. This collection is managed within the DfE portal. Schools are able to download the final CTF which can be imported into a schools MIS.
Any queries, please do not hesitate to get in touch. As always we appreciate your support and co-operation during this busy period.

It was confirmed just before half term that the Government have accepted the SRTB recommendation of a 4% increase to all teacher and leadership pay ranges from 1 September 2025. There is also confirmation of some additional funding to help cover the increase. It would also appear that as the confirmation has come earlier than in previous years it is highly likely the pay increase can be effective from 1 September rather than later in the autumn term and backdated. I will be discussing this with payroll colleagues to confirm this in due course. There is also a proposed change to how TLRs are paid. There will now be flexibility for a school to decide the value of a TLR payment to a part-time teacher, rather than the FTE of that teacher being the proportion of TLR they receive. We will provide further guidance on this once fully confirmed after the usual Government consultation period.
There is no further confirmed news regarding NJC increase apart from the offer of 3.2% increase. This is currently with Trade Unions who appear to be suggesting they will reject. We will provide any updates as we receive them.
In the meantime if you have any queries please contact myself or your HR Adviser. Please see link to DfE statement - Written statements - Written questions, answers and statements - UK Parliament

Sky Arts’ Access All Arts Week, a free nationwide arts week for primary schools, returns for its fourth year between 16th and 20th June with over 19,400 teachers in 11,700 schools across the UK and Ireland already signed up to take part.
Exciting new live lessons for 2025
For the first time, this year’s programme will feature live lessons lead by some of the UK’s best creatives, including:
· Former ballerina & creator of DDMIX Dame Darcey Bussell DBE leads the way with an energising movement workshop, teaching fun dance moves from all around in a global dance adventure.
· Singer, songwriter and broadcaster Fleur East brings the beats, teaching pupils the basics of rap and how to have fun with music.
· Spoken-word artist and podcaster George the Poet guides pupils to craft their own poem about the library, using lyrical storytelling to explore a setting.
· Marvel comic book artist Will Sliney guides pupils step-by-step in his drawing masterclass, teaching them how to draw their very own comic book character.
· Oscar-winning Wicked costumer designer Paul Tazewell will encourage pupils to create their own one-of-a-kind outfit, inspired by the show’s iconic costumes.
The lessons, filmed at iconic locations including the Royal Academy of Dance, the Cartoon Museum in Soho, Hits Radio (part of the Bauer Media Group), the Library in Willesden Green, and Sky Studios Elstree (where Wicked was filmed) will give pupils an insight into the creative world and the inspiration behind our talent.
There’s still time to get involved in Access All Arts Week – find out more here: https://accessallarts.skyarts.uk/
