Translator Volunteers

Age UK is seeking volunteers to help older people at their Brunswick Day Centre with communicating with staff and their peers. Service users sometimes lose the capacity to speak English and revert to their native tongue, which creates a communication barrier. Volunteers help to break this barrier down. Age UK are particularly looking for speakers of Hindi, Punjabi, Urdu and Patois. 

Ageing Well Volunteers

Age UK are looking for volunteers who want to help at Ageing Well groups to assist with running the group, preparing for activities, and being a friendly face. Groups range from craft groups to exercise groups to Men in Sheds. Please note that there is a minimum commitment of three months.

The Conservation Volunteers

Clayton Vale's Green Community Hub

A new opportunity to get involved with your local green space by volunteering, learning new skills, connecting with nature and meeting new people! Fun and free environmental conservation and nature connection activities are running from Clayton Vale with sessions alternating each week.

• Alternate Thursdays 10am to 1pm, Practical environmental conservation.
  Tasks may include woodland management, path improvements, meadow management and more.

• Alternate Thursdays 10am to 11.30am, Nature based wellbeing sessions.
  Activities may include nature crafts, wellbeing walks, mindfulness in nature and more.

Whether you are looking to be more active, spend time in nature, meet new people, gain skills for employment or simply have some time to spare - everyone is welcome!

You are welcome to join both types of session every week or just one type every other week. There is no obligation; you can come as often or as little as you like. Transport to Clayton Vale may be available from a local community venue if needed.

Volunteering is when someone spends time doing something to benefit others. It can include shopping for someone, being a mentor, assisting someone with a job search, giving reading lessons, helping at a food bank, befriending – and much more.  Anyone can volunteer; you can do as much or as little as you like, to fit around your life. It may be a regular activity, a one-off, or anything in between. Volunteering is for people of all ages, abilities, experiences and backgrounds. You don’t need any skills or qualifications to begin volunteering. Your past experiences may be extremely useful when volunteering.
