For 14-17s
MCR Social at Greater Manchester Youth Network has a fantastic line up of holiday activities as part of the SEND Community Offer for young people living in the Manchester City Council area who are 14-17 years old and neurodivergent and/or disabled. To get registered, a supporting adult, such as a parent, carer or social worker, needs to fill in an online form. You will then be sent a full list of activities to sign up for. Siblings who are 14-17 but don't identify as disabled or neurodivergent can join in too.
A taste of what's on offer

Socials and art sessions: Contact Theatre have offered their function rooms for socials on Saturdays 3rd and 31st August, 12-3pm, with a mixture of video/board/social games; there are also two art and craft sessions, likely to be Wednesdays 21st and 28th August, 12-3pm.

Museum and exhibitions: Trip to Manchester Museum on Sunday 4th August; two afternoon trips to see Sweet Dreams at Factory International on Thursdays 8th and 22nd August; trip to the Science and Industry Museum on Sunday 1st September.

Bowling and arcade: Two separate trips, likely Mondays 5th and 19th August, 12-3pm, with all alleys hired to play a few rounds of bowling, plus an hour or so playing the games consoles and arcade games.

Pixel Bar gaming: The whole venue has been hired out for a social on Tuesday 13th August, 12.30-3.30pm to meet others, play video games and enjoy a buffet of pizza, chips and soft drinks, or food alternatives on request.

Tree Top Trek: Zip World at Heaton Park have offered to host accessibility sessions over the summer; likely to be the mornings of Wednesday 14th August and Monday 26th August.

Clay Studio: Have offered to run a group MCR Social session on Sunday 25th August, 12-2pm, for 10 young people, making quirky clay sculptures.

Theatre: ‘The Allusionist Presents Souvenirs’ at the Contact Theatre on Thursday 29th August; a stage show based on one the funniest and most educational podcasts around.

Cinema: There will be summer screenings at HOME in the city centre across the holidays, likely to include Parent Trap, My Neighbour Totoro and Coraline.

Access Sport: Have offered at least four sport sessions at Platts Lane Sports Complex, likely to include BMX cycling, football, and basketball.

Climbing: Hoping to confirm at least two dates with Rock Over Climbing, one mid-week and one weekend, where a climbing instructor will run a group session for two hours.

Cookery course: Food Sorcery in Didsbury, in collaboration with Eat Well, are running an afternoon cookery course for 10 young people with a trained professional chef.

Over 16s only
For over 16s only as part of the SEND Community Offer! The SPACE Group has two fun activities planned this summer for young people with SEND living in the Manchester City Council area.
Tree Top Trek
Sessions on the highwire obstacle course at Zipworld, Heaton Park, Wednesdays 31st July and 14th August, 10am-12pm. Booking essential. Bowling
A bowling session at The Printworks, 27 Withy Grove, Manchester M4 2BS, on Tuesday 27th August 3pm-5pm. Booking essential. Text BOWLING and names, date of birth and postcode to 07749 116211 between 3pm on Sunday 21st July to 6pm on Wednesday 24th July.

BLOCK THREE - Weeks 5 and 6
Important information
- MAXIMUM TWO BOOKINGS PER BLOCK until the online open sale at the end of each booking period. (One free + one paid for or two free.) Swimming and boating are bonus activities.
- Activities are for families living within the Manchester City Council boundary.
- Each booking must include at least one child aged 16 or under with special educational needs or a disability (SEND).
- There will be a mix of face to face and online booking, except for adventure/physical activities which are face to face booking only.
- There is a charge for some activities, including the coach trips. (Card payment may be available at face to face bookings but please bring cash just in case.)

Please be aware that queues have been long at some face to face sessions. It helps if you are clear about the activity you want - with the code eg. TAC02 - and have a second choice in mind, just in case. Left-over places from other blocks are likely to be available at these sessions.

Ghyll Head
Face to face booking only. Outdoor adventure at Windermere in the Lake District, 6+ only. All places £10 per person, includes activities for children, packed lunch provided:

Simply Cycling

Tree Top Trek and Nets
Face to face booking only. Sessions on the trek and nets at Heaton Park with Zipworld. Here are some Frequently Asked Questions.
Trek: Sessions on the highwire obstacle course. Age 6+ mini trek, age 7+ full trek, maximum weight 120kg, snack provided. On Tuesdays 20th (TTT09) and 27th August (TTT11), Thursdays 22nd (TTT10) and 29th August (TTT12), 10am-12pm.
Nets: Age 3+, 3-5 years must have adult with them, packed lunch provided. On Tuesdays 20th (TTN12) and 27th August (TTN15), Thursdays 22nd (TTN13) and 29th August (TTN16), Fridays 23rd (TTN14) and 30th August (TTN17), 10am-12pm.
Debdale Watersports
Face to face booking only. Outdoor water activities at Debdale Outdoor Centre on Hyde Road, Gorton on Wednesdays 21st (DW05) and 28th August (DW06), 1-4pm. Snacks provided. 6+ only and children need to be water confident. Clothes likely to get wet so bring spare set and a towel.
High School Musical

Drama workshops

Outdoor adventure
Face to face booking only. Outdoor adventure activities with Bright Future Friends and NACRO at the Horticultural Centre (off the main car park), Wythenshawe Park M23 0AB. Age 6+, packed lunch included, Saturday 24th August, 12-3pm. (BFF05)
Swimming
Face to face booking only. BONUS - book on top of two-activity limit. Inclusive swims at Abraham Moss Leisure Centre, Crescent Road, Crumpsall, M8 5UF - Saturdays 24th (SWIM09) and 31st August (SWIM11), 12-1pm or 1-2pm.
Rock Over Climbing
Face to face booking only. A session at Rock Over Climbing in Wythenshawe at Shentonfield Rd, Sharston, M22 4RW, on Sunday 25th August, 4.30-6pm. For children 6+, packed lunch included. (ROC03) Please note: All Rock Over Climbing sessions are at the Wythenshawe site.
Boating

Sensory rooms
Cheetham Hill
Spend time in the Sensory Rooms at Redbank House in Cheetham Hill over the summer holidays. An additional bigger room will be available from early August, bringing all the sensory equipment together with some soft play. This exciting addition will cater better for some SEND children and their siblings. Slots are available at various times between 9am-4pm (on the hour for 50 minutes) during weekdays in the school holidays, starting Monday 22nd July until Friday 30th August (excluding the Bank Holiday Monday). The sensory rooms are for families living in the Manchester City Council area. Book directly with Redbank House on 0161 214 5959.
Wythenshawe
Families also have free use of the Sensory Room at Benchill Community Centre, Wythenshawe, over half term. Each slot is for 45 minutes and on the hour. It's Monday 22nd July to Friday 30th August (excluding the Bank Holiday Monday). Drop in to the community centre or call 0161 946 9520 to book. For families living in the Manchester City Council area.
Community Kitchen
The Community Kitchen returns for summer! Sessions are for young people with SEND and/or social emotional and mental health needs (SEMH), living in the Manchester City Council area. It’s an invitation to come with the family and cook (and eat!) together, learning about healthy food and cooking skills and outdoor BBQ techniques. All food and tuition provided. The summer menu includes tender lamb chops, oven baked and BBQ chicken and fish, mac’n’cheese, vegetarian dishes, home-made coleslaw, and cakes and drinks. It's on Wednesday 31st July, Monday 5th August and Monday 19th August, 2.30pm-5.30pm, at Procter Learning Centre, Hulme Street, Off Jackson Crescent M15 5EF. Family Forest School
Manchester Bees and Manchester Urban Diggers return with Family Forest School:
The Forest School is an outdoor drop in at both sites between 11am-3pm, with vegetarian lunch served around 12.30pm. Activities include sensory play in the mud kitchen, sand pit, and water areas, den building, giant bubbles, bug and scavenger hunts and fire lighting and tool use, with snacks on the fire from 2.15pm. Full information, including access, on the Eventbrite links, as well as other activities offered by the Forest School. Let Sian know of any access needs when you book.
