Trustee Role pack
Young Identity is always looking for new trustees to join their diverse board, currently made up of an economist, lawyer, psychologist, education specialist, counsellor, young people’s arts producer, community engagement manager and creative business development expert. Their board brings a wealth of knowledge, both specialist and general, as well as invaluable perspectives and lived experience ranging from the local, national and international.

New Anthology Submission Callout
Young Identity are offering a chance to be published in their next anthology? They are opening submissions for their next anthology for young people aged 13 to 25. This is a chance to work one-on-one with their team of experienced editors, and be a part of their Book Launch events on release!
SUBMISSION BRIEF:
Next Spring (2024) : next publication will be a form anthology-style publication; the theme is 'AN ISLAND UNDER WATER'.
The form will be poems of 14-16 lines, a modern take on sonnets. Line length is your only stipulation; other factors like rhyme, and scheme are open to your writing preferences. This theme can be interpreted however you see fit, and submissions can utilise hyperbole, extended metaphor, existentialism, magical realism and any other stories that resonate with you via this umbrella theme. You must be registered for at least one Young Identity workshop hub to be eligible for publication. Before you submit, make sure you register here; youngidentity.org/register

Northmoor Community Homework Club reopened this week and there is still time to get children registered. They are offering the below:

We Are Digital
Skills Bootcamps in Digital Marketing
Start date: 18 September
We are Digital are now accepting applications for their Digital Marketing course which runs for 10 to 12 weeks. Learners can choose to enrol onto their morning, afternoon or evening sessions. This is for Individuals who are unemployed, self-employed, or working part-time and are looking to upskill. For individuals interested in the GMCA Skills Bootcamps, eligibility includes those turning 19 on or before 31 August 2023 and should have the right to work in the UK.

Open Door is an 8-month part time acting training programme designed to prepare you for Drama School.
Their Acting programme works with people aged between 18 to 30 based in Greater Manchester (and a selection of other areas) who are serious about pursuing a career in Acting but may need a little help in getting there.
Their online Behind the Scenes programme works with people aged between 17 to 30 based across England, Scotland and Wales who are serious about pursuing a career in Technical Theatre and Production Arts but may need a little help in getting there.

Manchester Poetry Library
'The Final Year’ by Matt Goodfellow: A Book Launch for Y5,6 & 7 Classes
Wednesday 20 September, 1pm to 2:30pm
Another very quick win before Greater Manchester schools head off to the sun is to sign up for this event. Matt is launching his new book, a middle-grade novel, written in verse, for readers aged 8 to12. The event promises to be lively, fun and a great way to start the new year for your Year 5,6 and 7 pupils. Resources and a writing competition will be announced at this event, with Matt laying down the challenge for pupils to write their own poetry. So plenty of follow-on activity. This event takes place at Manchester Metropolitan University.
Reform Radio
Creative Writing for Radio
Starts Wednesday 20 September
Creative Writing for Radio is a three week course designed to help you develop your confidence, writing and public speaking skills. You will learn how to build characters, write dialogue from their point of view and deliver this from our industry standard recording studio. You will develop skills in audio design through creating soundscapes to underscore your dramas, recording and editing dialogue and more; which will result in you having some great content for your creative portfolio. As part of this course your creative writing will be broadcast across Greater Manchester on their DAB Radio.
Week one: Wednesday 20, Thursday 21, Friday 22 September.
Week two: Wednesday 27, Thursday 28, Friday 29 September.
Week three: Wednesday 4, Thursday 5, Friday 6 October.
Each session runs 10am to 4pm.
Public Transport travel will be reimbursed.

Reform Radio
Know where you want to be in life but need help getting it in motion?
Positive Frequencies brings together the worlds of Well-being and Creative Writing.
Join them every Monday, 10am to 4pm for seven weeks, to develop your personal and professional skills, in a safe space. This course seeks to increase your self-awareness through self-reflection and learning more about your mind and behaviours in response to situations. You will be supported throughout the course by one of Reform’s experienced Creative Practitioners and our in-house Wellbeing Manager, Dan (a qualified psychological therapist); who will share their expertise in using creative writing as a way of capturing your journey and telling your story as a tool for increasing wellbeing. This course aims to help you build confidence, define goals and increase transferable employability skills.
Course starts: Monday 16 October 10am to 4pm.
Lunch and refreshments will be provided.
Public Transport travel will be reimbursed.
For unemployed, 19 to 30 year olds, with a Manchester postcode
Taster session and enrol: Thursday 12 October, 12:30 to 2:30pm
This programme will see you create your own original music track whilst developing your employability skills along the way. Throughout the two week project, you'll develop skills in music software, DJing, song and lyric writing as well as a variety of other skills in promoting your track, and talking to the media. At the end of the week, you will have produced a full music track that will air on Reform Radio on Friday afternoon, which will leave you with some content that you can be proud of and share with others.
Eligibility: Aged 19 to 30, unemployed, not in education, based in Manchester.
Taster session to meet the team and enrol Thursday 12 October, 12:30pm to 2:30pm.
The course takes place Monday 16 October to Friday 27 October, weekdays only, 10am to 4pm.
Taster session: Thursday 9 November 12.30pm to 2.30pm
This free course is suited to those who have no prior experience with music software. This one-week volunteers programme is being headed up by DJ, Producer and Founder of musical imprint Do As You Please, Joe Roche. Throughout the week, you will be upskilling on audio production, learning the ins and outs of the DJ/Producer life and preparing for a networking event where participants will showcase their new skills to promoters, bookers and venues from across Manchester. Food provided and travel reimbursed, with refreshments available.
7 Days of training: Week one: Tuesday 14 November to Friday 17 Week two: Tuesday 21 November to Thursday 23 November.
Taster Session: Wednesday 29 November - 12.30pm - 2.30pm
Could you be the next Annie Mac? This programme will see you learn the ins and outs of what it means to be part of a Radio Production team. Throughout the two week project, you'll alternate between Presenter and Producer roles, developing skills in music software, script writing, public speaking; as well as a variety of other digital and media skills. At the end of the week, you work collaboratively to create a live show that will air on Reform Radio on Friday afternoon. The course runs for two weeks, weekdays only, from Monday 4th December - Friday 15 December, 10:00am - 4:00pm.
