Merton Family Hubs Partnership at Mitcham Carnival
The Merton Family Hubs Partnership was pleased to participate in the Mitcham Carnival on 23 June. Our stall attracted over 70 families and young people, who received valuable information about the various support services available. Engagement was high, with many families requesting additional details about the family hub offer such as children’s centre timetables, special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) advice and youth services.
We'd like to extend a big thank you to all members of staff who supported the event by attending on the day to represent the Merton Family Hubs Partnership at the event.
Upcoming opportunity: Big Sports Day Event
We have another excellent opportunity to further promote our Family Hub services and raise awareness among Merton families at the Big Sports Day event on Sunday, 8th September. If you would like to showcase your service and join the Family Hub stall, please email familyhubs@merton.gov.uk for further details.

Integrated Parenting and Financial Wellbeing Support Study
INTEGRATED would like to invite you to take part in a national survey being undertaken at the University of Exeter. The Integrated Parenting and Financial Wellbeing Support (INTEGRATED) study is exploring whether combining parenting support and financial wellbeing support can improve children’s health-related outcomes. This survey aims to understand the varied models of financial well-being support provided by Family Hubs.
If you agree to participate you will be asked to complete an online questionnaire which contains 15 questions and will take approximately 5-10 minutes.
Welcome Mark, Interim Lead for Family Hub - Information and Systems
Hello, my name is Mark, and I am an interim working with the Family Hub transformation team at Merton Council. I joined the team in May and have been looking at some of the processes around data collection and information management for the wider Early Help system.
Members of the Family Hub Network (FHN) recently reviewed progress against the Early Help System Guide for discussion with the leadership team. We have now agreed five priorities to improve our understanding of the needs of families in Merton in the context of data collection, information sharing and analysis.
These are:
- Review current information sharing arrangements.
- Continue to develop data sharing principles.
- Analyse the impact of assessments in the Family Wellbeing Service.
- Develop data collection across the Family Hub Network.
- Create a Quality Assurance and Performance Framework for Early Help.
We hope that this will lead to a new approach for information sharing, helping families to tell much of their story once and enabling practitioners to work with greater efficiency.
We have agreed a plan to be delivered by 31 March 2025. The plan will be published shortly, and we will let you know how you can get more involved in the next bulletin.
