Business Administration Apprentice with QULM
Queen Mary University London are currently recruiting for a Business Administration Apprentice.
The role will provide effective, efficient support to deliver a comprehensive administrative service for staff recruitment and staff-related support activities in the School of EECS (School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science)
This role will also assist with the employment and payment of the School’s extensive annual cohort of student demonstrators.
This role will be perfect for anyone interested in learning more about Business Administration, recruitment, working in higher education and an intro to HR. No prior experience needed, however some education eligibility criteria do apply (GCSE’s / FS).

Summerversity 2022:

Our annual programmes of free summer holiday activities for young people aged 13 and up Summerversity, and Launchpad for young people aged 16 and up are back with activities and opportunities to help young people make the most of their summer holiday while staying safe.
The programmes are packed with activities and courses in everything from t-shirt and trainer design, bike repair and carpentry to animation, social media skills, sport and employment support. Many of the activities will help young people gain skills and experiences that will boost their CV and guide them towards employment, training or further education. A free, healthy and nutritious meal will be provided with many activities.

Programme Support Officer - Apprenticeship Pathway
The Programme Support Officer apprenticeship consists of a 24-month long opportunity to gain workplace skills whilst working towards a Level 4 Associate Project Manager apprenticeship qualification.
This apprenticeship is ideal for those who enjoy working as part of a team, document management, planning, organising and administration of meetings.

Quantity Surveyor Apprentice
The Quantity Surveying apprenticeship role is to work with Islington’s New Build Team, developing and monitoring the costs to build new affordable homes for Islington. The role is client-based but includes opportunities to work within the Employers Agents teams and contractors commissioned by Islington to deliver our new homes developments.
The most important aspect of this role is to support the Commercial Manager in ensuring that we standardise and monitor cost reporting and ensure that the council achieve Value for Money across all our schemes.
The Apprenticeship consists of a 40 month long opportunity to build on your commercial skills whilst working towards a construction quantity surveying technician qualification.

Construction Design and Build Technician Apprenticeship for Islington residents
The Construction Design and Build Technician apprenticeship role is to work with Islington’s New Build Team. The role is client-based but includes opportunities to work within the design teams and contractors commissioned by Islington to deliver our new homes developments.
You will have the opportunity to be involved in all stages of a design and construction project, from inception to completion and subsequent occupation by our residents. The Yard Theatre in Hackney Wick are looking for someone to play a key role in ensuring the day-to-day smooth running of The Yard’s activities. As Finance and Administration Assistant, you will be responsible for managing the majority of financial data at The Yard, with the support of the People and Finance Manager. You will also provide general administrative support across the team, particularly in people and office management.
This role will give you a broad understanding of how our departments work together to create inspiring work in our theatre, bar and community centres. Therefore, this is a great opportunity for the right candidate to either launch or progress your career in the arts in a supportive environment.

999 Control Officer - London Fire Brigade
A career as a 999 Control Officer involves providing advice to callers and gathering important information to assist the Brigades response to a terrorist attack, serious fire, major incident or large-scale flooding event.
Some of your time will be spent responding to emergencies, you will be taking 999 calls to road traffic collisions, fire alarms, rescues and other incidents requiring our assistance.
At other times you will be undertaking training and development, supporting routine operations in the Control room or speaking to fire stations and officers ensuring you and the Brigade are ready to respond.
Salary range: £25,918.58 - £33,776.11 plus 20% shift allowance

Commonwealth Games - URGENT VACANCY
Vacancies for 50 people for 6 to 7 weeks from 27th July for the commonwealth games in Birmingham. This includes accommodation for the duration of the games and 3 meals per day pay rate is £10:85 per hour.
The referral process is simple all the employer is requesting at this stage is names in full, contact number, and email address, ASAP.
Also, they will need to attend a 1-day training course at the employers’ office in Ilford next week.
The employer is also looking for additional staff for stewarding for London Stadium, the first event is on 7th August for the new football season, again they will need people to attend training at the Ilford office next week.
Once they have completed training, there will be other jobs that they can be put on in between the events as they have different jobs coming up daily.

Green Skills Bootcamp
Are you an Islington resident and looking to gain new skills, whilst building your confidence in a supportive environment?
Peabody Housing, London Square and The Skills Centre have teamed up to support local people through a free training course focused on Sustainability in Construction
This 1-week taster course will focus on sustainable working practices within the construction sector including renewable technologies, waste management and recycling. You will receive industry insight talks around key areas of the low-carbon economy and get the opportunity to apply for jobs and apprenticeships across our developments.
Following the taster course, we will work with you to find paid roles and apprenticeships should you feel ready to work or connect you with local colleges and education providers to continue your training.

As part of our new Connected Communities programme, we are looking for unemployed Islington residents who are looking for work in administrative, office based roles.
We are working with the temporary agency who supply councils with temporary admin staff . Although it is our policy to avoid reliance on agencies, like so many employers, there are occasions when we need to take on temporary staff.
All temporary staff at Islington council are paid at least the London Living Wage of £11.05 per hour, or more, depending on the role.
Even as an agency temp, once you start work with the council, you will get the opportunity to apply for relevant internal vacancies.

Civil Service Care leavers Internship Scheme - Local Authority partner information sessions
The Civil Service Care Leavers Internship Scheme is back and goes live in just a few weeks.
Applications open on 8 August.
Information sessions have been set up for those supporting care leavers and for care leavers wanting to know more.

London Screen Academy - Upcoming Summer Activities and Careers Fair
London Screen Academy (LSA) is a state-funded sixth form based in Islington specialising in Film and TV. LSA trains young people in behind the camera skills and students benefit from unprecedented access to the industry as they progress into careers in film and TV, university and beyond!
In partnerships with Islington council, we will be taking part in Islington Summerversity where we will be running FREE Summer taster sessions for 13 - 16 year olds.

SHORT SHARP SHOT PROGRAMME - SMALL GREEN SHOOTS
Young people who are trying to get in to the creative/music industry are invited to apply for the short sharp shot programme making a return for 5th September 2022.
The Short Sharp Shot programme, is a 8 week intense programme, that covers training across the adobe suite, chart metrics, Disco, Mail chimp and later. There are professionals from different sectors of the industry that will come in and hold informal Q+A sessions, so the young people can get a feel for what working in the industry is like and help them to identify and find what part of the industry they are most passionate about. Additionally, The young people will be paid minimum wage to attend the programme.

Our candidates will be heading to DHL in Lewisham this week for a World of Work afternoon, getting a tour of the warehouse, a presentation on DHL’s humble beginnings to taking over the world of logistics and a complimentary lunch with other colleagues for a QA session.
DHL are hopeful that the candidates who take part in the placement will be successful in continuing their career with them, as many Street League young people have before them. We will of course share their progress and success with the placements once they begin in June!

FREE Level 3 Digital Product Design Qualification

There is a greater requirement for digital skills in the workplace now than ever before. This exciting new 12-week course will give the skills and qualifications recognised by employers which will help to secure employment in the field of designing and building digital products to improve user experience all for FREE.
Course modules include:
- Project Management
- Web Development
- Digital Product Design
- User Experience Design
To be eligible for the course, your customers will need to be:
- Be Aged 19+
- Be currently unemployed
- Have no prior level 3 qualifications
This 12-week course will be delivered at Solar House, 5th Floor 1-9 Romford Road, E15 4LJ and also Online, so you will need to have access to a computer with an internet connection.

Connecting Community Programme
We are currently delivering EET support to 18 – 24 year old clients as part of the ESF funded Connecting Communities Programme. In addition to one-to-one personalised employment support, funding can be provided to clients to help with costs such as travel, childcare, work clothes, or a smart device. A list of live vacancies will be made available as well as help to apply for the vacancies if required.’

100 hours World of Work Careers Videos
The 100 hours World of Work team at Islington Council are building a library of videos where volunteers from a variety of sectors share their career journeys, talk about a typical working day, and explain how the pandemic has affected their jobs.
The videos are aimed at secondary school students but they may also be helpful to NEET young people and parents.

Creative Society is a charity that helps young creatives (18-30) find work in the creative industries.
We are currently recruiting new mentees to join our mentoring programme, which is a six-month programme that offers regular support, advice and networking opportunities to our mentees.
