Early Years Foundation Stage- Transition Guidance
In response to the local authority SEND development and improvement plan a multi-agency working party of early years and SEND specialists including the Parent Carer forum has developed an early years Transition Guide for parents/carers of children with special educational needs and/or disabilities.
The early years transition guide sets an expectation and gives guidance to support successful transitions into and between all early years settings for all children.
This guidance aims to support parents/carers and settings to facilitate a smooth transition for all children who may have an additional need.
At the time of transition these children may be more vulnerable and therefore support should be given according to individual need.
This document will be shared widely across the local authority and will be updated on an annual basis. Please share within your teams and with your families.

Provider Search - School Drop Off/Pick Up
We have recently updated our online provider search, to allow parents to now filter by providers offering a school pick drop off/pick up service.
If you offer a drop off/pick up as part of your service and would like to advertise this, you can do so by updating your provider record via the “useful information for parents” form on the Ehub.
You can view your current record via our online childcare provider search:

Early Years Summit – Speech, Language & Communication
Free training available for early years and childcare providers at the upcoming online Early Years Summit on Speech, Language and Communication. The summit is completely free to watch online for a full week with 24 expert speakers on Speech, Language and Communication from around the world.
The summit runs from Monday, 29 May to Sunday, 4 June and features well-known experts like Alistair Bryce-Clegg, Sally Haughey, Prof Sam Wass, Molly Potter, Dr Lynn Williams, Heeral Davda, Dr Lucretia Berry and many more. All sharing their insights, top tips and advice on the vital topic of Speech, Language and Communication for young children. It would be wonderful if you could make sure your early years and childcare providers were aware of the summit and that they can watch completely free all week. It’s our 11th summit and the 4th we’ve done on Speech, Language and Communication. Last year we had over 25,000 registrations from around the world but there are always people who find out after the event and are disappointed to have missed it - so I wanted to make sure we got the word out through local authorities this year.
In addition to being able to watch free all week, you can also buy the recordings to keep and watch forever and we have special early bird prices from just £15 - with discounts of up to 50% for local authorities who buy the recordings in bulk. If you’d like to find out more about the recordings packages please do reply to this email and I’ll send you details. But more importantly, it would be great if you could make sure all the early years and childcare providers in your local authority had the opportunity to watch the summit for free. They can register for free access at https://www.earlyyearssummit.com.
East Riding Oral Health – Resource Box
Free oral health resource boxes. There are two available for loan. One is an EYFS/KS1 box and the other is a KS2. The EYFS/KS1 and KS1 box both have an accompanying interactive video that can be downloaded off You Tube.
The contents of each box compliment the new EY framework curriculum and they have many age-appropriate activities which can be used alongside the items in the suitcase. These boxes can be accessed at local CHCP dental Practices across the locality. They can be borrowed for up to 2 weeks and then need to be returned for a deep clean and restock before they can be used again. When borrowing this free resource, a collection date and return date will need to be confirmed and honoured to ensure the smooth running of this programme.
If you would like to make a booking or you have a query around this service, please contact Kirsty Holdsworth on chcp.oralhealth@nhs.net
Parenting Survey
The East Riding Parenting Centre for Excellence is currently reviewing the local parenting offer across the whole of the East Riding.
Our families are at the heart of everything we do, so we want to know what we are getting right for you and if there are any areas you feel we could be better at meeting your needs from a parenting point of view.
We welcome surveys from all parents/carers/grandparents and others within your child’s family.
It will only take a few minutes to complete and your thoughts would be much appreciated.
