Community of Experience Offer – Humber and North Yorkshire Keyworker Service
An innovative Community of Experience hosted by KIDS¹ has been launched! The Community of Experience aims to build upon and continue to shape the Humber and North Yorkshire Keyworker Service². The Humber and North Yorkshire Service works with those up to the age of 25 with a learning disability, autism or both who are inpatients in or at risk of being admitted to a mental health inpatient unit. Keyworkers work with children and young people, and their families, to get the right support at the right time.
The Community of Experience will be offered to those aged up to 25 with a learning disability, autism or both and their parents/carers. It will build upon the Keyworker Service by offering peer support, resources and signposting and running activities and workshops aimed at improving personal wellbeing. It will be delivered in Hull, East Riding, North Lincolnshire, North East Lincolnshire, North Yorkshire and York.
It has been and will continue to be created in co-production with Experts by Experience, which is those with a learning disability, autism or both and parents and carers. Events were held across the Humber and North Yorkshire region with Experts by Experience to understand their experiences what they would like the Community to look like. People were also invited to become volunteers or paid sessional workers supporting workshops and/or activities.
The Community is now offering roles for volunteers and paid sessional workers and encourages any Experts by Experience who wish to become involved to get in touch for further details.
For more information, to sign up or to be part of the Community of Experience, please get in touch.

Community of Experience Project surveys
As part of the Community of Experience project that KIDS are developing, we are looking for Lived Experience feedback to inform the offer.
The Community of Experience is to build on the Humber and North Yorkshire Keyworker Service and provide wrap around support for those with a learning disability, autism or both up to the age of 25 and their Parent Carers.
Please take a moment to fill in the survey so we can get as much input form Parent Carers and Young People to create this initiative. As a fellow Parent Carer of two autistic teens that is experiencing difficulties myself accessing and finding the right support, this is much needed and has a lot of potential.
