Spotlight on... Hull and East Riding Children’s Neurodiversity Service - Draw a Logo Competition

Hull and East Riding Children’s Neurodiversity Service are inviting children and young people from across Hull and East Riding of Yorkshire to draw a logo for a new service, the Hull and East Riding of Yorkshire Children’s Neurodiversity Service.   They would like you to draw a picture that can be used and shared as a new logo for the service that will be working to support children and young people with lots of different needs.   This service will support children and young people with neurodiverse needs such as autism, learning disabilities, epilepsy, cerebral palsy, ADHD, sensory processing, speech and language, occupational therapy and physiotherapy needs and much more.

East Yorkshire Parent Carer Forum (EYPCF)

EYPCF upcoming coffee session:

Ofsted - It is expected that the East Riding will have an area Ofsted inspection during June or July. The PCF is putting information together for parents and carers about what the Inspectors will be looking at and what will open during their week-long visit which in the current Covid circumstances will be a virtual visit.

We are holding Coffee Sessions to discuss and answer any questions parents/carers may have about the Ofsted visit. The first of these sessions is being held on Thursday 27 May with a following session scheduled for Tuesday 8 June 12.30 – 14.30.

Let’s talk about Children’s Neurodiversity Service’s – a Listening Event session in East Riding of Yorkshire –

Date: Friday 11 June 2021

Time: 10:00am – 12 noon

We would like to invite parents of children and young people with neurodiverse needs to join us in a Listening Event.  The Listening Event is your opportunity to build on information and feedback you may have already provided to individual organisations and tell us what we need to know - now.

Neurodiversity services support children and young people with support needs for autism, ADHD, learning disability, sensory process disorder, cerebral palsy, Downs Syndrome and much more.

As a system, Hull and East Riding health and care partners have recognised they need to change and improve how children and their families access and receive support, and how services are provided. Following feedback received from children and young people and their parents, a series of service reviews and events were undertaken in 2019.  These events produced an evaluation report in 2020 with an agreed vision, values and overarching service model for local services that support neurodiversity.  An agreed delivery model for accessing a new Hull and East Riding Neurodiversity Service was also identified.  This model is the first phase to ensure health and care services work better together and to help provide and support improved outcomes for children and young people and their families in Hull and East Riding.

As some time has passed from these events, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we want to check that the vision and delivery approach is still right.  The Listening Event is for us to listen and check with you, whether the issues raised before are still the same as issues now, before we start to develop the new approach to support and delivery.

This initial listening session will be followed up with a series of virtual joint Hull and East Riding focussed discussion sessions with parents.  We want parents to co-produce the development of the new approach for the delivery of the Hull and East Riding Children’s Neurodiversity Service.  There is a series of topics for discussion where we want your input to make sure we get this right for you and others.  Please contact your local Parent Carer Forum for further information or to book a place on either the Listening Event on 11^th June 2021 and or the follow up co-production sessions:

Over the past few weeks Junction and IOU Theatre have been sharing artwork by artists, poets and musicians on the My Three Words website, inspired by specific locations in Goole which can be exactly determined using three unique words, via the what3words platform. Now it’s your turn!

The My Three Words website is now open for submissions from you. If you live in Goole we want to see artwork inspired by your hometown. Or perhaps you visited and had a one-off memorable experience there, which inspired a collage or a piece of music? Perhaps you grew up there and you want to share your memories in a story, poem or illustration? 

You can submit anything from writing and illustration, to photography, video or even sound files. To find out more visit mythreewordsgoole.co.uk and download the submission guide.

We encourage submissions from individuals and also groups and organisations. If you’re a member of a local community group associated with Goole and would like to take part we welcome submissions from you. You can upload multiple images and files as part of one submission so it could be more than one piece. CASTAWAY links up with A SONG FOR US  -  Emma Walker, songwriter, will be Zooming with Castaway to inspire and help young songwriters (10 – 25) of all levels of experience including complete beginners to make songs for the Musical Map.   If you enjoy music, instruments or singing, come and meet us and hear what it’s all about.  ERVAS Volunteers’ Week 2021 is almost here!  -  ERVAS will be celebrating the difference volunteers make to their organisation and thanking them for all their time and dedication during this year’s Volunteers’ Week, which runs from 1-7 June.  Volunteers at East Riding Voluntary Action Services will be celebrating along with staff and supporters during the week to mark the occasion. As the Volunteer Centre for the East Riding, we will also be releasing our newly updated volunteer toolkit during the week, which will be full of resources for organisations that work with and support volunteers.  Charities across the UK will also be holding events to thank their volunteers and celebrate the power of volunteering. Last year there were over 600 events across the country, from award ceremonies to tea parties and barbecues. For many charities the week will be a chance to showcase the range of volunteering opportunities on offer. Volunteer fairs and other events will encourage people to try volunteering for the first time and help people find out how, through volunteering, they can make a difference to a cause they are passionate about. Be sure to share the details of what you are doing this volunteers week, tag ERVAS or Volunteer Centre East Riding in your social media posts so we can share what you are doing!  Find out more about volunteers week at volunteersweek.org. 

Parenting Support Needs Survey - Children's Services at East Riding of Yorkshire Council want to better support parents to develop effective parenting skills.  To achieve this, we need to understand a little more about families, what support parents feel they need and how they want to receive support. This information will enable us as a service to develop and provide the best support to families in the future. This survey can be made available in other languages or formats if required.
