Have your say on the future of local government in Devon

A consultation on the future of local government in Devon has been opened by the Department for Housing, Communities and Local Government. This is the latest step in the process for reorganising local authorities following UK Government’s decision to simplify local services in England.
Have your say on Cranbrook’s new Leisure & Wellbeing Centre
You're invited to see the latest proposals and share your thoughts on the new Cranbrook Leisure, Health, and Wellbeing Campus. The proposed location is at the southern end of the town centre, just north of Badger Way.
The online survey is now live and the drop-in event at The Cranberry Farm is scheduled for 2pm – 8pm on Wednesday 11 February 2026.
Comment on draft governance recommendations for Cranbrook and surrounding development areas

In the first consultation, residents from Cranbrook, Broadclyst, Clyst Honiton, Rockbeare, and Whimple shared their views on current arrangements, and how Cranbrook’s planned expansion areas should be governed.
East Devon District Council has now made draft recommendations on how boundaries affecting Cranbrook Town Council and four neighbouring Parishes should be altered.
Other active consultations and surveys
If you, or someone you know, is unable to complete an online consultation or survey, request a paper version, by emailing engagement@eastdevon.gov.uk. Please submit this request at least four days before the consultation closes, so that the response is received before the deadline.

 Cliff fall at Beer Beach
To protect visitors at Beer Beach, the section by Ducky's has been cordoned off, until the cliff fall has been inspected and made safe. This cliff work will be completed by contractors, on behalf of Clinton Devon Estates, who are responsible for this section of cliff.
Cliff falls are a natural and unpredictable occurrence along the East Devon coast; the rock from which the cliffs are formed is soft, and therefore prone to rock falls and landslides, which can happen at any time.
Rare hoverfly spotted: a possible new arrival to Britain

During a spring survey at Holyford Woods, a rare hoverfly with dark wing tips was found. Further surveys will be important to determine whether this hoverfly is now established in Britain.

Remember to separate glass jars and lids
When recycling your glass jars in your recycling box, please be a super-recycler and take the lids off, then drop them into your green recycling sack. We can then recover the lids too. The lids are made from aluminium which is a really valuable metal.Â
If you're unsure if something is recyclable or which container it should go in, visit the council website:
