East Devon District Council Leader, Councillor Paul Arnott, recently presented the winners of the Eco-Friendly category at the glitzy Devon Women in Business awards, held at Winslade Manor.
As Chair of the Exeter and East Devon Enterprise Zone, which sponsored the awards, Paul was delighted to meet the category winners, Dartmoor Reach Alpaca and Glamping Farm and The Sign Maker, awarded Highly Commended for their contribution. The award recognises the outstanding work of Devon's women-led businesses that are reducing their carbon footprint and helping their customers to follow their example.

Cllr Paul Arnott, Leader of East Devon District Council and Chair of Exeter and East Devon Enterprise Zone Board, said:
“The Exeter and East Devon Enterprise Zone is focussed on delivering our vision for clean growth, supporting businesses to create net zero carbon solutions. By sponsoring the Devon Women in Business EcoFriendly Business of the Year category, we want to highlight the crucial contributions made by women in the built environment sector. We hope this recognition will inspire more women to work within the sectors to respond to the climate emergency, challenge conventions and stimulate innovation.
“We really hope these businesses continue their net zero journey and educate their customers about how they’re doing it too.”

Keeping batteries separate in our vehicles and at the depot prevents fire risk
When recycling your batteries, please put them into a clear plastic bag before putting them in your recycling box for collection; a sandwich bag is ideal. This helps crews separate them out when emptying your recycling box.
Please do not place them in your refuse bin, as the batteries could explode or ignite if damaged or crushed. Please do not put your batteries inside a cardboard box or wrap them in paper, as they can get missed and mixed up with paper and cardboard in the recycling vehicle and at the depot.
