OFSTED New Inspection Framework Published

Ofsted has published the outcome of the consultation on its new education inspection framework. It will focus on curriculum, behaviour and development.

The Education Framework sets out Ofsted's inspection principles and the main judgements that inspectors make. It applies from September 2019, and can be viewed HERE

The School Inspection Handbook for maintained schools and academies in England under the education inspection framework, for use from September 2019, can be viewed HERE

The Section 8 School Inspection Handbook (EIF) for Ofsted inspectors, for use from September 2019, can be viewed HERE

A new post, “What is off-rolling, and how does Ofsted look at it on inspection?” has just been published on the Ofsted blog by Dan Owen HMI, Specialist Adviser for school inspection policy.

A new post, “Dan Lambert HMI on the inspection of exempt outstanding schools” has just been published on the Ofsted blog. Her Majesty’s Inspector (HMI) Dan Lambert explains why Outstanding rated schools are not inspected routinely, and what happens when they do inspect them.

The Timpson Review of School Exclusions Published

The Timpson review explored how headteachers use exclusion, and why pupils with particular characteristics are more likely to be excluded from school. The review gathered substantial evidence through submissions to the call for evidence and engagement with many organisations and individuals, including schools, local authorities, parents and children. The Report makes 30 recommendations. The government response sets out a programme of work to respond to the recommendations. The full report and response can be viewed HERE

PREVENT - Counter Terrorism Local Profile Briefings

The Counter Terrorism Intelligence Unit (CTIU) will be delivering the Counter Terrorism Local Profile briefings to Prevent partners (including the Education Sector). These briefings will provide educational establishments with a unique learning opportunity through the provision of an overview of the current and emerging threats, recent figures, case studies, etc. Attendance at this briefing will ensure that your Prevent risk assessment is contextualised, proportionate and dynamic and will assist you complying with the Prevent legislative obligations.
