Patching Policy

Devon Highways Board have approved version 10 of the patching policy. This can be found on The hub.

Version 10 makes the following amendments;

• Standardises and simplifies further the material choice for patch repairs
• Sets the binder spread rate to 0.9 l/m2 for the sealing of a patch prior to surface dressing (where required)
• On surface dressing sites, increases the acceptable areas of pre-patching depending on maintenance category. These have been increased to maintenance category 3 & 4   15%, maintenance category 5 & 6  25%, maintenance category 7, 8, 9 , 10 & 11 40%. This is the maximum area of patching before the dressing treatment becomes uneconomic. However, it is vital that the patching area is restricted to that which is absolutely essential to maximise the cost effectiveness of the treatment.

Restructuring update

As you will be aware there has been significant delay in progressing with the completion of the restructure as we are trying to identify acceptable alternative posts for displaced F grade staff.  Whilst this is still on going, and there may be vacancies at E grade made available in the coming weeks, the senior management team have agreed to carry on and fill the vacancies at D grade in the structure.  It is planned to send out the invitations for expressions of interest in the D grade posts early in the week commencing Monday 2 November 2015.  The revised timetable is available.

This month we say Goodbye to...

Sadly Jim Morrison has taken the decision to retire after 38 years service with Devon County Council.  He will not be returning to his duties following his long term sickness absence.  We would like to take this opportunity to wish Jim well in his retirement.

Highways Christmas Meal - 4 December 2015

Spaces available! We have contacted The Queens Court Hotel who have confirmed that they can accommodate up to 75 people. We would love you and your teams to join us for this event.

Friday 4th December 2015 – 5pm come and join us at The Queens Court Hotel in the centre of Exeter for a Christmas dinner.

The cost of the 3 course meal is £22.95pp or 2 course meal is £18.95 not including drinks.

If you would like to come please let Charlotte Rowe or Annmarie Lloyd know as soon as possible. We need the full amount and your menu choice by 4th November at the latest.

After the meal we are looking to go around the pubs and clubs, people can then decide whether they want to join us.
