 The latest phase of the Department of Health and Social Care’s national adult social care recruitment campaign, ‘Made with Care, has now launched and will run continuously until March 2022.
Created to support care providers in recruiting the dedicated staff they need, this campaign will show the amazing work that care workers do, celebrate the way they empower the people they care for, and shine a light on the emotional rewards of the role, to inspire more people to consider a job in adult social care.
‘Made with Care’ advertising will direct job seekers to adultsocialcare.co.uk. Here, they will be able to find everything they need to research a career in adult social care and, crucially, search and apply for adult social care jobs near them through DWP ‘Find a Job’.
 The deadline to apply to the EU Settlement Scheme was 30 June 2021 for most people. You can still apply if you have ‘reasonable grounds’ for why you did not apply by the deadline. For example if you are a vulnerable citizen.
The Home Office has announced continuation of funding until the end of March 2010` for many Grant Funded Organisations who are able to provide direct guidance to vulnerable adults who have yet to apply and to those who require support in submitting appeals. The link to these organisations can be found here: https://www.gov.uk/help-eu-settlement-scheme. All organisations assisting vulnerable adults are encouraged to make contact without delay.
 ADASS are hosting a series of webinars, covering the latest position and updates about the EU Settlement Scheme and ongoing issues facing Local Authorities, Principal Social Workers and all organisations supporting vulnerable EU/EEA adults.
These will be on the 17th November, 24th November and the 8th December

Expressions of Interest – Funded projects on data and cyber security
The Better Security, Better Care programme is supporting adult social care providers to improve their data and cyber security arrangements through the use of the Data Security and Protection Toolkit (DSPT). The programme is seeking partners to deliver six new, fully-funded projects. All projects are to be completed by 31 March 2022 and deadline for Expressions of Interest is 19 November.
Projects include:
- Training and skills development for the care sector
- Supporting people drawing on social care to make informed choices about digital security
- Supporting non-traditional care providers to become DSPT compliant
- Learning from other sectors using DSPT (e.g. dentists, pharmacies, opticians)
- Identify the key market drivers for a digital support service
- Evaluation of Better Security, Better Care programme
 How to make the most of student nurse placements
With the help of practitioners from the workforce and input from people who need care and support, Skills for Care has launched a guide which supports the understanding of nursing placements within social care settings. This is the first time such guidance has been produced, and it’s thanks to funding from Health Education England that they’ve been able to do so.
For employers, it’s a quick and easy way to identify what type of experience their setting can offer to a student nurse and how it maps to the nursing curriculum (future nurse standards of proficiency) by using the ten descriptions of different social care settings included in the guide.
This gives employers a fantastic opportunity to not only develop their training offer but also develop their staff by encouraging them to think about how they could support student nurses in the workplace.
