Coventry Safeguarding Children Partnership
The Section 175/157 School Safeguarding Audit is now live on the Phew Audit System. The deadline for completion is close of play on Friday 5 June.
If you completed the audit last year, the written responses you provided have been mapped over to this year’s audit meaning you will just need to review and update your answers where applicable, reflecting any changes and your current situation. However, please ensure you re-upload any documents you submitted as evidence, as this does not get mapped over.
If you experience any issues or require new user accounts, please contact Letoya Smith - letoya.smith@coventry.gov.uk

Children's Services referral changes
The way you refer into Coventry Children’s Services is changing. From Monday 1 June, all new referrals will come via the new Integrated Front Door - now called The Children & Family Initial Response Service which brings together the former Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) and the Early Help Front Door.
As part of the Families First Partnership programme, ‘Request for Support to access Early Help’ and ‘Multi-Agency Safeguarding Referral for Children’s Services support’ will no longer be used. There will now be one single form called Request for Support.
Request for Support includes benefits such as useful prompts to support you in sharing relevant and proportionate information. In addition, you will be asked to indicate at which level you are seeking support for a family. This ensures the family conversation is held by the most appropriate staff member within the Child and Family Initial Response Service.

Department of Health and Social Care
We wanted to let you know about the National Dental Epidemiology Programme oral health survey for 3‑year‑old children. The survey involves a simple dental check and helps us understand the oral health of young children in our local area. Visits to participating settings will take place during the 2026 to 2027 school year.
Early years settings will be contacted directly by the Office for Health Improvement and Disparities and asked to take part in this programme, please contact dentalphintelligence@dhsc.gov.uk with any queries.
Business in the Community
We are exploring how we can bring learning from the Big Bocs Bwyd initiative, successfully supporting families facing food insecurity in South Wales, to Coventry. Big Bocs Bwyd hubs are “pay-as-you-feel” shops based in modified shipping containers on school sites. The primary aim of the initiative is to ensure that no child is hungry and that every child is able to learn how to make good food choices that enable them to thrive.
Business in the Community is hosting an online information session on 11 June at 4pm. The session will provide more detail on the project and aims to identify a group of schools interested in participating, with start-up funding available. If you are interested in attending, please contact Heather Black at heather.black@bitc.org.uk, who can share the calendar invite.
