We would like to invite you to be part of the CSE Aware events and survey. Below you can find the information about the upcoming training session on trauma-informed practice as well as the survey and webinar on motherhood and women who sell or exchange sex.
Online training session: trauma-informed practice and women selling or exchanging sex Thursday 15 March, 9.30 – 13.00 via Teams
A variety of content, discussion, and small group activities will be used to explore the following aspects:
- The prevalence of traumatic events in the lives of women who sell or exchange sex
- The effects of trauma and women’s adaptations
- The principles of trauma-informed practice and their application to women’s engagement with services
You can express your interest in attending the session: https://forms.office.com/e/pPj2i4pWSt. We will contact you if you are allocated a space.
Survey: experiences of women who sell or exchange sex and motherhood
Ongoing. We invite women with lived experience to take part in a short anonymous survey asking about the experiences of women who sell or exchange sex with motherhood.
Women who sell or exchange sex have highlighted motherhood as a common experience, however we’ve found there is very limited information about the challenges women face and strategies they use when it comes to having children.
Our next CSE Aware topic will be motherhood and to help us build a better picture of women’s experiences, we have designed a survey which has the option to respond as either a support worker or as a woman with lived experience. The survey can be accessed on this page. Responses are anonymous and it only takes a couple of minutes to participate.
Webinar: motherhood and women selling or exchanging sex Wednesday 6 March, 11.00-13.00
This event will highlight the challenges women selling or exchanging sex face in relation to having children, as well as good practice approaches.
Open to frontline workers and support services, the session will run on Zoom Webinar. If you cannot access Zoom, we can share the recording with you after the event. Contact us on enquiries@womenssupportproject.org.uk.
The event is free and you can register here.
Latest news - United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) Act 2024The UNCRC Bill was unanimously passed in Scottish Parliament on 7 December 2023 and received Royal Assent on 16 January 2024. The next step is implementation! Why not have a look at this understanding children’s rights guide for those working in public services in Scotland, including local authorities. It gives an introduction to the UNCRC and shares what the UNCRC Bill will mean for public services. We’ll share more information and guidance over the next few months on how we as a local authority will take a children’s human rights approach in our work. This includes our new child friendly complaints scheme that’s coming in April 2024. You can also watch this short animation that shows the practical ways we as a local authority can respect children’s rights and how those rights might apply in your role. |
