Join us at the Oregon Active Transportation Summit, April 25 in Portland

Join our Ped/Bike Program Manager Jessica Horning for “The Bike Bill” session at 9:45 a.m.; our Region 4 Active Transportation Liaison Chris Cheng at “Creating Bike Networks," 1:00 p.m.; and our Active Transportation Research Coordinator Josh Roll at a presentation titled, “Evaluating Pedestrian and Bike Systems,” at 1:00 p.m. - plus much more!
Safety Division's Bicycle and Pedestrian Program updates
Walk+Roll: Walk+Roll is a statewide program that helps create active transportation options going to and from school. We offer technical and incentive support to schools who sign up for statewide and national Walk+Roll events including the Walk+Roll May Challenge. Have you joined our Facebook group yet? We'll share information about the May Challenge, and we want to hear from you about your events! Connect with others to share tips and tricks and keep up with what's happening around the state. Get details on The Street Trust website.

Have you used ODOT's Bike Maps?
Each year, we distribute over 20,000 Oregon State Bicycle Maps and Oregon Coast Bike Route Maps. These maps are available free via ODOT’s Pedestrian & Bicycle Program website and partners across the state. Let us know what you think of ODOT’s bicycling maps by completing a brief, 6-question survey. We will use your responses to inform future updates.
Safe Routes to School: See our virtual workshop; get some training in Redmond!
ODOT’s Safe Routes to School program includes both the Infrastructure and Non-infrastructure program elements. If you missed one of our workshops on how to apply, watch this recorded one, and we look forward to hearing from you.
FOR NEW (ISH) coordinators and active transportation practitioners: Join us in Redmond on June 24. Representatives from Commute Options and The Street Trust will present a training to all interested in Safe Routes to School programming. This is ideal for new or interested coordinators and active transportation practitioners. See the website for details.
Oregon Friendly Driver: This is the second year of the Oregon Friendly Driver program. Our goal is to make this a statewide program where drivers can take a free 60-90 minute interactive class to learn the safest ways to use the road with people walking or riding bikes. Classes are presented by Commute Options, The Street Trust and the Lane Council of Governments. We are currently offering these classes through local partners, businesses and community classes through driver education, professional drivers, police, city staff, and general community education.
