SALEM – Communities interested in improving transportation safety around schools are invited to apply for the next round of funding in the Safe Routes to School program, and this time, there are two programs offering funds: the Safe Routes to School Non-infrastructure grants and the Project Identification Program. Application materials are available on our website, as well as a video of a workshop offered earlier this year to help complete applications.
- The ODOT Safe Routes to School Non-infrastructure grants provide funds to communities to provide education and encouragement programs that address barriers to students walking and biking to school.
- The ODOT Safe Routes to School Project Identification Program helps schools and communities develop a local plan that identifies infrastructure projects and non-infrastructure programs that address barriers to students walking and biking to school.
Applications are due May 31, 2019. Two final in-person workshops are set for Eugene and Portland; target audiences include representatives from cities, counties, tribes, transit districts and public schools:
-
April 18, Eugene - 3 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. Cesar Chavez Elementary School Library, 1510 W 14th Ave.
-
April 26, Portland - 1 p.m. - 3 p.m. ODOT Office, Room A/B, 123 NW Flanders St.
