New NC Map of Global Education Initiatives

The map below highlights several Global Education initiatives, including the growth of dual language/immersion programs across our state, the location of districts and/or schools where the Global-Ready designation has been earned, and the places where educators are pursuing the Global Educator Digital badge.

 

Here are the numbers that make up the map by the color coding:

The NC Dual Language/Immersion Programs wiki at http://ncdliprograms.ncdpi.wikispaces.net/ has a section on NC Programs, including the NC DL/I Program Directory.

 

Information about earning the Global-Ready designations for districts and schools can be found online at http://www.ncpublicschools.org/globaled/actions/item4-2 and recipients of those designations are listed on the Global-Ready page of the Global Education wiki.

 

Details about the process involved in completing the Global Educator Digital Badge (GEDB) is posted at http://www.ncpublicschools.org/globaled/actions/item1-2 and educators that have earned the GEDB are listed on the GEDB page of the Global Education wiki.  Their Capstone Projects can be found in the Home Base Resources by searching for "GEDB".

NCDLI 2019 Call for Proposals 

 

The 7th International Conference on Immersion & Dual Language Education will be held on February 6 - 9, 2019, with the theme, "Transforming Communities through Multilingualism."  Several partners in North Carolina, including East Carolina University, the NC Department of Public Instruction, and UNC-Charlotte have joined with the University of Minnesota's Center for Advanced Research on Language Acquisition (CARLA) to bring the conference to Charlotte, North Carolina.

NCDLI 2019 will feature invited speakers from the dual language/immersion field, plenaries on the five conference strands, workshops, and a variety of sessions from practitioners and researchers.

If you would like to propose a session, the Call for Proposals is now open through May 1, 2018.

The NCDLI 2019 Conference Planning Committee is going to schedule a variety of sessions, including:

  • Research Paper/Best Practice Sessions (1 hour)
  • Discussion Sessions (1 hour)
  • Laptop Poster Presentations
