From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 28, we invite you to learn about and connect with your local government. You can start at any one of seven Town locations by bike, bus, or car. Grab a passport when you get there and use it as your guide to each facility. From facility tours and scavenger hunts to live firefighter and K-9 demonstrations, there's something for all ages and stages! |

July 4 Celebration and Service Alerts
Friday, July 4, is a Town holiday. Most Town offices will be closed. We'd love to see you at our July 4th celebration from 7 to 9:45 p.m. at Southern Community Park.
Please also plan for service and facility changes that include:
- Library will be closed
- Transit will not operate (except for the fireworks shuttle)
- Residential trash pickup will not be affected.

Council Appoints Ted Voorhees as Town Manager
At its June 25 business meeting, Council appointed Theodore (Ted) Voorhees as Chapel Hill's next town manager. Voorhees will start his new role on August 11.
Voorhees has extensive experience in local government leadership. Since April 2020, he’s served as county administrator for Orange County, VA and prior to that he was the county administrator for Powhatan County, VA. Before moving to Virginia, he spent many years in North Carolina, serving as Fayetteville City Manager for four years, Durham deputy city manager for ten years, and Wilmington assistant city manager for two years.

New Way to Report Potholes and More
Starting Tuesday, July 1, we'll have a new way for you to report things such as potholes, downed street signs, and traffic signal issues. It's called "Resident Reporter." Much like SeeClickFix, you can find the address of your concern (or turn on location services on your phone) and select the problem. This new platform features a "Most Common Requests" option to make it easier to report the most requested issues. More details to come Tuesday morning!

Town to Issue Bonds
We're issuing the first round of general obligation bonds, which voters approved during a 2024 referendum. These bonds will allow the Town to do several things, such as move forward with Ephesus Church Road sidewalks and the Fordham Boulevard sidepath between Cleland and Willow Drives, as well as replace the climbing wall at the Community Center. These bonds will also allow the Town to create and preserve affordable housing.

Tech Headquarters Coming Downtown
IotaComm, Inc. - a wireless communications and data services company - is relocating its corporate headquarters to downtown Chapel Hill. "Once again, Chapel Hill stands out among competitive regional and national candidates as an ideal home base," said David Putnam, the Town's Economic Development Director.

Dive in to Summer Fun at the Library
Super Summer Fun Club is our school-age, camp-themed, library adventure club. It's part of the library's summer reading program but only in July. We welcome kids ages 6-12 for a variety of super fun indoor and outdoor activities, such as t-shirt making and a field day. Each session requires registration, so make sure you sign up now!
