Highlights from June 25, 2025 Town Council Meeting
The Chapel Hill Town Council met on Wednesday, June 25 at 6:00 pm. at Chapel Hill Town Hall. The full agenda is available on the Town’s website.
Highlights of last night’s meeting include:
NATIONAL PARKS & RECREATION MONTH
Council proclaimed June to be Parks & Recreation Month in Chapel Hill. They recognize the benefits derived from parks and recreation resources and their role in building community where people thrive. They urge everyone to take full advantage of local parks and recreation programming this summer and throughout the year.
FUNDING ALLOCATION FOR THE PARTNERSHIP TO END HOMELESSNESS
Council voted 8-1 to allocate $61,109 to the Orange County Partnership to End Homelessness.
CONDITIONAL ZONING APPLICATION AT 200 SOUTH ELLIOT ROAD
Council voted 8-1 to approve a Conditional Zoning Application for a multi-family housing development at 200 South Elliot Road.
APPOINTMENT OF NEW TOWN MANAGER
Council voted 9-0 to appoint Theodore (Ted) Voorhees as Chapel Hill Town Manager, effective August 11, 2025.
APPRECIATION FOR COUNCIL MEMBER KAREN STEGMAN
Council shared a resolution of appreciation for Council Member Karen Stegman, who is moving to Carrboro and stepping down from her seat.
