Friday, July 4, is a Town holiday. Most Town offices will be closed. We invite you to a July 4th fireworks celebration from 7 to 9:45 p.m. at Southern Community Park. Learn more. 

Please plan for the following service and facility changes: 

Trash Collection  

• Residential trash pickup will not be affected. 

• Crews will not collect commercial trash on Friday, July 4. They will collect it earlier in the week. 

• Crews will not collect yard trimmings on Friday, July 4. There’s no make-up day. 

Orange County Recycling Collection 

• Orange County will not collect curbside recycling on Friday, July 4. Friday recycling will be collected on Saturday, July 5.  

• Orange County Landfill and Waste and Recycling Centers will be closed. 

Chapel Hill Public Library will be closed Friday, July 4. 

Chapel Hill Transit will not operate any routes except for the July 4 fireworks shuttle from the Jackson Parking Deck to Southern Village Park and Ride. 

Public Housing  administrative office on Caldwell St. will be closed. 

Parks and Recreation  

• Facilities open Friday, July 4, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.:  Community Center, Nate Davis Sr. Gymnasium, and A.D. Clark outdoor pool 

• Facilities closed Friday, July 4: Parks & Recreation Administrative Offices, Community Center Indoor Pool, Homestead Aquatic Center, Hargraves Center, and Teen Center
