EWIMS Offers 15 Hours of Free Support
- The Michigan Department of Education (MDE) has 20 trained and certified Trainer-Coaches who can support schools and districts in implementing EWIMS. The support provided will be customized based on needs/capacities.
- The Trainer coach will meet the returning CSI school/district virtually or in-person to collaboratively develop a customized scope of work
- Implementing EWIMS satisfies the ESSA requirement for both LEAs and SEAs to increase interventions and support for students
- EWIMS fits within the MTSS framework

*The Early Warning Intervention and Monitoring System (EWIMS) is an evidence-based, data-driven decision-making process that can be leveraged within a district’s Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework. An impact study indicates schools that implemented the process with fidelity saw reductions in chronic absenteeism and course failures.
Celebrating Our CSI Schools and Districts
We are pleased to share that CSI plans have now been submitted, and almost all have been reviewed for identified schools and districts across the state. This accomplishment reflects the dedication, collaboration, and commitment of local teams working to improve outcomes for students.
We extend our sincere appreciation to district and school leaders, improvement teams, educators, and support staff who invested significant time and effort into analyzing data, identifying needs, engaging stakeholders, and developing thoughtful plans for improvement. The quality of the submissions demonstrates a strong commitment to continuous improvement and student success.
While a small number of plans have been returned for modification and refinement, the overwhelming majority successfully met requirements during the review process. We recognize that meaningful improvement planning is challenging work, and we commend all teams for embracing the process with professionalism and purpose.
Thank you for your partnership, perseverance, and unwavering focus on creating better opportunities and outcomes for Michigan's students. We look forward to supporting your continued implementation and improvement efforts throughout the year.
MICIP Crosswalk Document
Highlights from the MICIP Crosswalk with Title I Funding:

The Comprehensive Needs Assessment (CNA) is completed annually, while MICIP data objects are monitored throughout the year using ongoing monitoring cycles within the MICIP platform.

Title One planning and funding alignment can be reflected as tasks under interim targets in MICIP, demonstrating how grant funds support district continuous improvement priorities.

Program Evaluation can be demonstrated through consistent, high-quality monitoring cycles that include evidence collection, reflection, adjustment, and revision within MICIP.

MICIP Refresher-Virtual Training
MICIP Refreshers are one-on-one virtual trainings with Dot to review the MICIP Platform. This can be for new users looking for a little more support, or veteran users who just need a little "refresher" on spaces in the platform.

Resources for Schools Identified for CSI, ATS and TSI
Administrators and facilitators play a critical role in guiding structured, team-based inquiry and ensuring clear connections between resource decisions and improvement strategies. To support the work of integrating resource considerations into the continuous improvement process guidance materials are available to individuals facilitating the resource allocation review process. What's New in MiStrategy Bank
Looking for a high-impact instructional strategy that can be applied across grade levels and content areas? The MiStrategy Bank now includes Explicit Instructional Practices, an evidence-based Level II (Moderate Evidence) strategy designed to improve student learning through clear, structured, and systematic teaching. Explicit instruction actively engages students through teacher modeling, guided practice, feedback, and checks for understanding that support the acquisition of new knowledge and skills. Unlike passive lecture-based approaches, explicit instruction incorporates ongoing interaction and formative assessment to monitor learning and adjust instruction. Supported by research across literacy, mathematics, science, and intervention settings, Explicit Instructional Practices can strengthen Tier I instruction, increase student engagement, and improve academic achievement. Districts and schools may consider this strategy when developing MICIP plans focused on improving instructional effectiveness and student outcomes.
