Through their Alzheimer’s Disease Programs Initiative grant, the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) engaged Dementia Friendly Fort Worth (DFFW) to design and implement a full-day dementia training program from which over 800 police cadets have benefited. This webinar will explore the partnership between NCTCOG and DFFW and how they developed and implemented their curriculum, including the engagement with the police academy leadership and its impact on cadets’ knowledge, skills, and attitudes. Details on the ways the cadet training program is designed to transform first responder interactions with PLWD by promoting understanding, empathy, and practical strategies for more compassionate and effective responses will be included in the webinar.
