+ You can now access an explanation of the JCPS COVID Testing consent forms in your language
 Jefferson County Public Schools are offering weekly testing to students and need parents to offer consent. In collaboration with See Forward Ministries, we have created video explainers outlining why these consent forms are needed and how you can access them.
The videos are available in 12 different languages.

+ METCO board has changed its policy to allow cooperative businesses to receive loans
 The Louisville Metro Government’s Metropolitan Business Development Corporation (METCO) board this month approved a change in its policy to allow for lending to cooperative businesses, widening access to these loans.
This change will open up lending to members of cooperative businesses who could not previously seek loans because the previous policy only allowed lending to shareholders or owners with 20% or more ownership in a business. Under a cooperative-owned-business model, no single person has an ownership interest of 20% or greater.

 The Louisville Free Public Library is now offering Transparent Language, an online language learning tool with more than 100 languages, including ESL/ELL.
With your library card, you can explore a new language from home, at the library, or on the go using any Internet-connected device.

+ Interfaith Paths to Peace is now accepting nominations for their annual Peacemaker Awards
 Interfaith Paths to Peace is seeking nominations for their annual Peacemaker Awards that will be given at their annual Recipe for Peace event on October 28, 2021. Recipients of the Peacemaker Awards will be allowed to direct funds to a nonprofit organization of their choice to further support peacemaking in the community.
This year's categories include:
- Lifetime Achievement in Peacemaking
- Young Peacemaker
- Innovative Peacemaker
- Racial Justice Peacemaker
- Religious/Spiritual Peacemaker
- Corporate Peacemaker
Individuals can nominate only one person (or organization) per award but can submit nominations for all 6 award categories or those of their choosing.

+ Highview Baptist Church is offering Free English classes
 Highview Baptist Church is now offering free English classes to community members who wish to practice their English language proficiency skills.
In addition, individuals can receive homework help amongst other activities for youth and kids. Classes are held every Thursday from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at their central campus located at 1908 Bashford Manor Ln.

+ The Louisville Metro Public Health Department has started a new vaccine clinic
 The Louisville Metro Department of Public Health and Wellness, in partnership with the Kentucky Nurses Association, have opened a temporary vaccination site providing free Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines to anyone 12 and older.
No appointments are necessary, but a parent or guardian must accompany anyone under 18.
