 A tornado caused significant
property damage in Round Lake Park, Hainesville, Grayslake, and Wildwood Sunday
evening, although no injuries were reported. Damage included downed power
lines, downed trees, and structural damage to homes and businesses. In some
cases, roofs of buildings were completely blown off. Lake County is providing
assistance to local jurisdictions as needed with clean up and damage
assessment. Local villages, Lake County, and contractors are continuing to
remove tree debris in the impacted areas.
The Grayslake Public Works
Department will have special branch-pick up service for affected areas in
Grayslake. Residents may place storm damaged tree limbs near the street
in the right-of-way and village crews will remove them in the upcoming days.
Residents requiring assistance with fallen trees on their property should
contact a private contractor for tree removal.
High School District 127 and Grayslake Central High School
have a number of repair service contractors at the high school, and expect the
facility will be ready for the first day of school on August 13.
For specific information about Grayslake storm response activities, contact the Village of Grayslake's Request for Service System at 847-223-8515 or www.villageofgrayslake.com.
