2023 Employee of the Year Nominations
This week the Director announced nominations are open for the 2023 IDL Employee of the Year. He wrote:
"First, I want to express my gratitude for all the incredible work you and your teams do each and every day for IDL. Your dedication and support for our mission is unparalleled and it's an honor to work with you all. 2023 proved to be a challenging year for IDL as we dealt with and continue to deal with a lot of change. But we continue to pull together to navigate this change because of the many leaders in this organization rolling up their sleeves and adapting to get things done!
It is because of your commitment and leadership that we have so many incredible employees within our ranks. So, it's that time of year again to showcase our top performers for 2023! Each year we recognize these employees with our Overall Employee of the Year and Values Employees of the Year awards.
As customary, please coordinate with your Bureau Chief, Operations Chief, or Area Manager to nominate your outstanding 2023 team members by sending in the attached nomination form to Bill Haagenson by April 5th. While there are only five awards, there is no limit to the number of nominations, so let's celebrate and recognize our people!
For those who are new to the process, please reach out to any Exec Team member with your questions."
Women in the Woods Returns
The Women in the Woods classes are back! These events give women landowners the opportunity to interact with a lineup of all-women forestry experts, creating an atmosphere where forest management training is tailored to female land managers.
Women landowners have an increasing role in forest management decisions and it’s important they have confidence and skill in managing their family forests.
There will be two classes offered by the Idaho Department of Lands (IDL) and the University of Idaho Extension.
The Women in the Woods Workshop will be held Friday, April 5 at the IDL office in Coeur d’Alene from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. While it is geared toward women, anyone is welcome to attend. There are no prerequisites, and no level of baseline knowledge is required.
The second class, the Women in the Woods Field Day, puts participants out in the woods, rotating through different exercises covering forest assessment, ecology, and forest management. The Field Day will be held on May 10 at Pine Street Woods in Sandpoint from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Participation in the classroom session is not a prerequisite requirement for signing up.
Great Photos
Gary Billman in Eastern had the opportunity to go out on a lessee’s ranch and take photos of the lambing process. He shared these photos with us.
