Update No. 4: Arrest made in Coal Creek Canyon homicide investigation

Garrett Matthew Coughlin, 24, was arrested this afternoon for the triple murder on Divide View Drive on April 15

Golden, Colo.This afternoon sheriff's investigators met with Garrett Matthew Coughlin, 24, of Lakewood, Colorado, at the Lakewood Police Department for an interview. Coughlin's name had surfaced, among numerous others, during the course of the investigation into the triple murder that occurred in the 800 block of Divide View Drive in Coal Creek Canyon, which was discovered on April 15. At the conclusion of the interview, Coughlin was arrested.

Coughlin was transported to the Boulder County Jail where he was booked on three counts of Murder in the First Degree (after deliberation), a class one felony; three counts of Murder in the First Degree (during the commission of a robbery); and Aggravated Robbery, a class three felony. Coughlin will likely make his first appearance before a judge on May 17, although the time and location has not yet been determined. The families of the three murder victims were notified of the arrest early this evening. Each family has asked that the media continue to respect their privacy, as they are still grieving and are not yet prepared to make any public statements.
