UPDATE No. 2: Homicide investigation in Coal Creek Canyon

Investigators have eliminated murder-suicide as a possibility in the on-going triple homicide investigation

Golden, Colo. - Investigators have preliminarily identified the three victims in the Coal Creek Canyon triple homicide investigation, and were able to eliminate murder-suicide as a factor. While no suspect(s) have yet to be identified, investigators believe that the residence in the 800 block of Divide View Drive was specifically targeted and that there is not a general threat to the public. Additional information about why investigators believe the residence was specifically targeted and other specific investigative information cannot be provided at this time.

The three victims will be publically identified by the Boulder County Coroner's Office after legal confirmation of their suspected identity is made and their next-of-kin have been notified and interviewed by investigators. The Coroner's Office also determines the cause and manner of death for each decedent. Specific detail about any traumatic injury each victim may have suffered will not be disclosed during the course of the investigation, except through information that the Coroner's Office may disclose when publically releasing their determination as to the cause and manner of each death.

There are currently more than twenty investigative personnel assigned to this investigation, which is likely to be lengthy. It is anticipated that not much, if any, additional information will be available for public release as the investigation progresses, in order to maintain its integrity.

The Sheriff's Office asks that anyone who may have information related to, or that may help with, this investigation to contact the Sheriff's Office tip-line at (303) 441-3674, or to submit a tip by email. Anyone who would like to provide information but remain anonymous may contact Northern Colorado Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS (8477) and may be eligible for a reward up to $1,000.
