Seamless Summer Lunch Program![]() ![]() Art Exhibit: "Jungle"Adams Square Mini Park Gas Station A new art exhibit, “Jungle” by Annli Tico, has been installed at the Adams Square Mini Park Gas Station and will be on exhibit through August 16, 2024. "Jungle” is made out of mostly lightweight textiles and yarn, as well as crocheted pieces that are hung from the ceiling. The piece creates a jungle-like environment within the station, that is colorful and dynamic from all four sides. Tico’s work spans multiple mediums and focuses largely on location, taking special interest in the expansiveness and intricate details of the natural world. Through the use of pattern, repetition, and the abstraction of shape, she attempts to create work that captures the broadness of nature in a way that is playful and inviting to the viewers. Tico often uses textiles and found materials to capture the softness and fluidity of nature, as well as its color and vibrancy. This temporary art installation is sponsored by the Glendale Arts and Culture Commission through funding from the Urban Art Program, and support from Glendale Library, Arts & Culture, Glendale Community Services & Parks, and the Adams Hill Neighborhood Association. Emerald Isle Park Playground Replacement Under Way!
In our ongoing effort to upgrade the City's park facilities, we are replacing the playground at Emerald Isle Park. The existing playground was originally installed over twenty years ago and needs replacement to meet the growing needs of a diverse population.
The Emerald Isle Playground Replacement Project will include demolition and recycling / disposal of the existing equipment, the purchase and installation of new equipment, new poured in place rubberized safety surfacing, shade structures, as well as expansion of the playground to include a play space for children ages 2-to-5 by replacing the sand box adjacent to the existing playground. As part of the project, sidewalk improvements are also required to ensure access meets ADA requirements.
This project is being funded through the State Park’s Prop 68 Per Capita Grant Program, California Parks and Recreation Society (CPRS) grant, and City of Glendale's General Fund and Development Impact Fees-Quimby funds.
Playground installation began on May 28, 2024, and is expected to be completed by September 2024.
Visit the project's website for additional information.
