Seamless Summer Lunch Program
Art Exhibit: "All the People We Encounter Each Day"
Adams Square Mini Park Gas Station 1020 E. Palmer Ave., Glendale, CA 91205 Now - July 12, 2024
Artist Amy Oates' installation titled All the People We Encounter Each Day is on display at the Adams Square Mini Park Gas Station through Friday, July 12, 2024.
All the People We Encounter Each Day depicts a crowd of people, swirling like a school of fish, created from layers of painted, cut paper. The layers are suspended from the ceiling with monofilament. Oates navigates between recognition and abstraction, simplifying palettes while complexifying layers and patterns through construct-deconstruct-reconstruct processes. She works to explore crowds as representative of ephemeral moments where individuals converge to form something abstract yet familiar, embodying negotiations between personal and public space. As she sees greater density necessitating greater attention to social interactions, she is exploring questions about how we can learn to live within the crowd. This exhibit is on display through July 12, 2024 at the Adams Square Mini Park Gas Station.
This temporary art installation is sponsored by the Glendale Arts and Culture Commission through funding from the Urban Art Program, and support from Glendale Library, Arts & Culture, Glendale Community Services & Parks, and the Adams Hill Neighborhood Association.
Ikebana Workshop taught by Saeko-sensei
Brand Park - Friendship Garden 1601 W. Mountain St., Glendale, CA 91201 July 28, 2024 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM
Ikebana (生花) means living flowers. The Japanese art of flower arranging has been described as being at once more subtle, more sensitive, and more sophisticated than the methods of arranging flowers usually employed in other cultures. This is so because Ikebana is an art in Japan in the same sense that painting and sculpture are arts elsewhere.
Fee is $50 per person ($25 for materials and $25 for the class).
Please pre-register using the button below, as class size will be limited.

As part of the project, sidewalk improvements are also required to ensure access meets ADA requirements.
This project is being funded through the State Park’s Prop 68 Per Capita Grant Program, California Parks and Recreation Society (CPRS) grant, and City of Glendale's General Fund and Development Impact Fees-Quimby funds.
Playground installation began on May 28, 2024, and is expected to be completed by September 2024.
