In our ongoing effort to upgrade the City's park facilities, we are replacing the playground at Emerald Isle Park. The existing playground was originally installed over twenty years ago and needs replacement to meet the growing needs of a diverse population.
The Emerald Isle Playground Replacement Project will include demolition and recycling / disposal of the existing equipment, the purchase and installation of new equipment, new poured in place rubberized safety surfacing, shade structures, as well as expansion of the playground to include a play space for children ages 2-to-5 by replacing the sand box adjacent to the existing playground. As part of the project, sidewalks improvements are also required to ensure access meets ADA requirements.
This $864,626.83 project is being paid with funds from State Park’s Prop 68 Per Capita Grant Program, California Parks and Recreation Society (CPRS), and City of Glendale's General Fund and Development Impact Fees.
Playground installation began on May 28, 2024, and is expected to be completed by July 17, 2024.
