Building Our Future…Together
“The most reliable way to predict the future is to create it”--Abraham Lincoln
Recognizing our purpose and commitment to serve, we all share a collective desire to ensure FPD remains as one of the best law enforcement organizations in the country. As is the case with how we address contemporary issues of today, planning FPD’s future will require leadership at all levels and positions throughout our organization. As we continue to progress, develop strategies for improvement, and build on the contributions of emerging leaders within our organization, we should also work toward making thoughtful and responsible decisions aligned with FPD’s future objectives. As we devote time and attention to FPD’s future, we will ensure that our momentum continues in support of our commitment of a FPD “Tradition of Excellence”.

Following a competitive process, our department was recently awarded one of California’s first grants directed towards enhancing employee wellness across multiple spectrums. The program, titled POST Organizational Wellness and Resilience (POWR), is unique in that it specifically tailors wellness programming for our specific agency. POST partnered with a team at the University of California San Diego Centers for Integrative Health, and this particular program has been developed by culturally competent wellness and resilience experts and is based on modern findings. The program is adaptive, contemporary, and practical in addressing needs throughout the agency.
The approach is geared to equip all of our personnel with the armor to persevere while supporting the following factors:
- Integrate the physical, emotional, and mental state of employees.
- Learn practices to improve peak performance.
- Emphasize the intersection of officer wellness, procedural justice, and community relations.
- Provide a framework that embeds qualitative, quantitative, or biometric measurements to evaluate outcomes.
We are in the beginning stages of PD wellness stakeholders meeting with POST and UCSD representatives. Members of our wellness team will be tasked with attending training courses and delivering those lessons learned and best practices back to our employees. We are excited to partner with UCSD and POST and feel fortunate to have been chosen for this unique opportunity to learn critical tools to help and enhance our employees' lives at work and home. Lieutenant Kindorf will be following up with more information as the program develops.

CSO-Parking Compliance Specialist Aguirre would like to send kudos to PCO Thomasian, CSO Sturm, Ofc. Berrier, and Ofc. Francisco for their efforts in removing vehicles form Isherwood Drive near Quarry Lakes. The Parking Compliance Unit has been dealing with the illegally parked vehicles in that area for almost two years, but tow away signs were finally installed. Great job everyone as the PD and the community appreciates your efforts!
CSO-Parking Compliance Specialist Aguirre would like to send kudos to PCO Holderfield for her assistance in identifying and directing officers to a man who was exposing himself and trying door handles in the Crossroads Shopping Center. PCO Holderfield was flagged down near the shopping center, advised of the issue, watched from a distance, and directed responding officers to the exact location of the suspect. Great job, Dawn!

What a way to continue to serve the Fremont Community!
