As we gather for the holidays, this time of the year brings us together to reflect and appreciate our families and friends in our personal and professional lives. As we approach the new year (2024), I hope you all have a happy and safe holiday season.
When reflecting on our department, I am so proud of all your accomplishments in 2023 as you continued to persevere and mitigate barriers hindering the advancement of our organization. What is obvious to me as a main contributing factor to our successes in 2023 is the impact of individuals who exhibited leadership throughout our organization. Innovative ideas, meaningful and productive conversations, along with an optimistic balanced perspective, yielded positive outcomes throughout our organization.
I look forward to all we will be able to accomplish in 2024 utilizing a solid foundation of talented people who care and want to contribute toward the success of our department. We consistently receive affirmation that suggestions, recommendations and perspectives from many of you have led to positive change.
Next year we should anticipate several exciting initiatives supportive of members of our organization, agency objectives, and community. In 2024 we will remain focused on wellness, staffing (recruitment & retention), strategic planning, professional development and enhanced operational effectiveness (use of technology, equipment, staffing needs assessments, etc.).
As we move closer toward our objectives, I will update the department utilizing a variety of sources such as; the Chief’s Team Communication emails, individual meetings, bargaining group information sessions, JLMC meetings, briefing visits, lunch with the Chief and other informal communications throughout the year.
Again, I would like to thank you for another fantastic year of service as an FPD team. I hope you take the opportunity to enjoy quality time with family, friends and those you love.
Happy Holidays FPD!
Chief Sean Washington
