2023 NACo Awards Ceremony
We had a great time celebrating county achievements with department heads, elected offices, Judicial Branch leaders, and their teams at our annual Maricopa County NACo Awards Ceremony last week. This year, Maricopa County won 58 achievement awards from the National Association of Counties, including 15 each for our Human Services and Public Health Departments! About 200 people joined us for the County ceremony, which included a fun spoof of a "newsman" with a fake mustache and a real interest in Maricopa County government.
The slideshow above gives you a small taste of the fun, and you can find more pictures and videos below.
Durango Construction
Construction at the Durango Campus starts this month and is expected to last about six months. During that time, the popular walking trail will be unavailable and there will be lane restrictions on RC Esterbrooks. If you're reporting to work or just visiting the campus where Flood Control, MCDOT, Real Estate, Animal Care and Control, and some of our jails are located, make sure to pay attention to safety signs for your protection- and for the protection of construction workers.

New Fueling Station Open
The new downtown fuel station is open for county employees. Located at Madison Street and 9th Avenue, it offers all users easier access and improved amenities.
As a reminder, the old fuel station in the Jefferson Street and 4th Avenue parking garage is permanently closed. However, the existing 4th Avenue Equipment Services Garage will remain open for the service and repair of County vehicles.

Hot Wheels!
Keep an eye out for the most adorable vehicle in Maricopa County’s fleet! The project transformed a generic white box truck into a fun, eye-catching, rolling billboard for Maricopa County Head Start! One side panel features an advertisement for Head Start and its signature web page, www.Maricopa.gov/HeadStart. The other side of the truck acts like a recruitment billboard and invites educators to visit www.Maricopa.gov/Teach.
