Veterans Day

Observing Veterans Day

Many Redmond city staff and community members have served and continue to serve in the armed forces. We are indebted to them for their service, and we recognize that they continue to be a vital part of the fabric of our community. To all those who have served, we thank you.

City facilities will be closed on Friday, Nov. 10, in honor of Veterans Day. Fire, police, and other critical services will remain fully operational. City Hall will reopen to the community at 8 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 13.

Esterra Park

Visit Redmond’s Newest Park

Last week, we celebrated the opening of Esterra Park during a ribbon cutting ceremony. Attendees heard from Mayor Angela Birney and Parks and Recreation Director Loreen Hamilton about the City’s excitement for seeing this space open and ideas about what’s to come for future programming, community connections, and continued partnership. Investing in these spaces is crucial for building a vibrant and cohesive community.

From Dec. 2 – Jan. 3, Downtown Park will showcase various light features and temporary public art. Additionally, there will be a Redmond Lights Kick-Off Event from 4 – 8 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 2, at Downtown Park, which will include a range of activities, performances, and lighted displays with a luminary trail to Redmond Town Center where additional activities will take place.

Sound Transit Garage Opening

See the Progress of Light Rail Coming to Redmond

Last week, a ribbon cutting ceremony was held to celebrate the opening of the Redmond Technology Station Garage. With the bus loop already serving transit riders, and now with 300 spaces for cars and 44 spaces for bikes, it will be even easier for the community to access transit service. This garage will also serve the light rail station when the initial segment of the 2 Line comes online in spring 2024. Also last week, Sound Transit's 2 Line entered the next phase of testing, known as “pre-revenue service.” During this phase, trains will be actively crossing on an ongoing basis as part of the testing process. Moving forward, pedestrians and motorists should always expect trains to be running.

Critical Areas

Protect These Critical Areas

Forested stream buffers are vegetated areas on the side of streams and rivers and are critical for stream health. They provide habitat for wildlife and salmon, improve water quality, and help keep Redmond beautiful. If you live near a stream, do your part to help maintain healthy fish populations by not cutting back trees, shrubs, and grasses within these buffers.
