WIDA ACCESS scores are now available in WAMS. Districts can access finalized WIDA ACCESS scores in the WAMS File Download area for 2022. WIDA ACCESS scores are also now loaded in the LEP application. Please see our slides and recording from the Sept. 1st Information Session for how to determine if an in-state transfer student needs to be screened.
The CEDARS “roll-over” was set to take place this week. At that time, new WIDA Screener data will be able to be loaded for the 2022-23 school year. The Overall Placement Test Score (for the screener) should also be available at that time.
If you have any questions about CEDARS and student information, please contact asksi@k12.wa.us.
Updated family notification letters are live on our Family Communication Templates webpage. These include:
-
Notification of Placement for new students which must be sent within 10 school days of new student placement. Transitional Kindergarten version now available!
-
Notification of Continued Eligibility for continuing students must be sent within the first 30 calendar days of the start of the school year. Alternate ACCESS version is now available in all 40 languages.
If you need data on 4 and 5-year graduation rates and average years in program, please see this Family Notification Data file. If districts have more recent data, feel free to use your local data.
WIDA Test Administrator Training
WIDA’s Secure Portal rolled over on September 1 for the new school year. Any test administrators who completed training before the rollover will show up in the 2021-22 school year with a date of completion. Anyone who completes Screener training after July 1 counts for the 22-23 school year. Please make a note when you are completing training logs to check both school years for training completion.

WIDA Alternate ACCESS Field Test
WIDA is in the process of transforming the WIDA Alternate ACCESS. As part of that process, all students who take the WIDA Alternate ACCESS will also complete the WIDA Alternate ACCESS Field Test in the spring of 2023. We know this will feel like a lot of testing for these students and their test administrators, and we appreciate your dedication to improving the tools we use to measure language development in these students. We will have additional information in September about the field test, but we encourage you to begin talking with your special education departments about the spring testing schedules. The field test will be approximately the same duration as the Alternate ACCESS assessment. For more information, visit the Alternate ACCESS for ELLs Field Test website.
- WIDA Alternate ACCESS testing window: January 30 to March 24
- WIDA Alternate ACCESS Field Test window: February 7 to April 17
The Zoom at Noon
OSPI is bringing back Lunch with Leslie for the 2022-23 school year. This is an opportunity on Mondays at noon for districts to hear updates from OSPI, ask questions about WIDA assessments, or find out how other districts are approaching testing processes.

Back to School 2022-23: Assess, Teach, Grow with WIDA
Want a quick synopsis of what you need to know to assess, teach and grow with WIDA this school year? Check out this back-to-school guide!
The Title III Grant Application in the ESEA Consolidated Grant Application (CGA) within EGMS is open. Pre-applications for both the CGA and the Title III Consortium grants have been approved and districts can now convert their pre-applications into applications.
For the Title III grant application, districts are required to complete a table with their most recent data for multilingual learners and plans for continuous improvement. OSPI’s Student Information team is working on providing updated data for 2022. We will notify you when these data are ready.
We are providing 6 opportunities for walk through support on how to complete the Title III Forms in the CGA. Please complete this survey if you would like to attend. The Zoom link/confirmation will be sent via email upon receipt of the completed survey. Sessions are limited to 10 participants and availability is first come, first served. Please complete the survey ASAP.
Workshop Dates:
- Wednesdays, Sept. 21, 28 or Oct. 12 | 3:00 – 4:00 pm
- Thursdays, Sept. 22, 29, or Oct. 13 | 9:00 – 10:00 am
