Child and Family Support Training Opportunity
Anticipate. Plan. Cope. (APC)
The Washington State Department of Health’s Behavioral Health Group is offering anticipate. plan. cope. (APC) train-the-trainer training to school counselors, social workers, and nurses to help strengthen the resilience of families in Washington’s school communities.
During APC train-the-trainer, school staff will learn how to deliver the APC training to parents and families they serve. Additionally, once train-the-trainer is completed, new trainers can then share this program out to other school staff, increasing its reach to families.
APC is a 30-minute training designed to assist parents beyond fact sheets as they cope during the COVID-19 pandemic. This training helps inoculate against stress by empowering parents to map and manage challenges proactively. In APC, parents learn 3 simple steps:
-
Anticipate challenges.
-
Plan to manage challenges by creating a family resilience map.
-
Cope by engaging previous successful coping strategies and exploring new coping tools.
