Real property used for business may qualify for 2021 property tax deferral

Meredith Green, Kitsap County Treasurer, announced that under a new state law just passed on April 16, businesses that have lost revenue during the COVID-19 pandemic may qualify for a deferral of their 2021 real property taxes.

Businesses that apply for the program by April 30 and establish a payment plan with Kitsap County Treasurer will not have penalties and interest applied to their taxes due, as long as the business remains compliant with the terms of the payment plan.

The Kitsap County Treasurer is now accepting applications from eligible business taxpayers. See the news release for full details.

Thank you to our medical laboratory professionals

This week is the 45th Annual Medical Laboratory Professionals Week. Medical lab professionals are some of the unsung, behind-the-scenes folks who are critical to the medical community. These lab professionals across Washington state and the nation are processing tests every day, including COVID-19 tests. There is no better time to celebrate these thousands of dedicated workers to support the health of patients and communities across our country.

In our local Kitsap County response to COVID-19, more than 120 different labs have performed tests for Kitsap residents over this past year. We thank the medical laboratory professionals who are working hard behind the scenes to fight the COVID-19 pandemic and recognize critical work. Learn more about this work on the Kitsap County Emergency Management blog. #KitsapResponds
