Who can get a new 2023-24 COVID-19 vaccine?
CDC recommends everyone 6 months and older get an updated COVID-19 vaccine to protect against the potentially serious COVID-19 illness this fall and winter.
For COVID-19 vaccination appointments now
- Check Vaccines.gov for pharmacies and clinics that have the new COVID-19 vaccine.
- Some pharmacies and clinics will have the new vaccine in the coming days. Many will not have appointments for another week or two, but eventually there will be plenty of appointments.
Starting in early October, Public Health will offer the new COVID-19 vaccine at:
-
A Vaccination Center at Kent Public Health (starting October 3)
-
In-home vaccination if you have a injury, disability, or health condition that makes it difficult to leave home
- Community vaccination events
Get more information at kingcounty.gov/vaccine. Use the Google translate menu at the top of the page for other languages.
Cost of the new COVID-19 vaccine
- Most insurance will pay for the whole cost, including Medicare and Medicaid/CHIP (Apple Health).
- Vaccine locations will ask if you have insurance.
- Uninsured or underinsured adults can get free COVID-19 vaccinations from CVS, Walgreens, and many community health centers through the “Bridge Access Program.”
- COVID-19 vaccination is free for children under age 19.
- Find locations on Vaccines.gov (Spanish: Vacunas.gov). For uninsured or underinsured adults: select a vaccine type, enter your zip code, then choose to only show locations “Participating in Bridge Access Program”.

Mpox resources
Mpox is a disease caused by a virus. It is typically spread through close physical contact.
The virus often causes a rash, which may look like bumps on your skin, blisters, or ulcers. Some people have a flu-like illness before they develop a rash. Infections with the strain of mpox virus identified in the U.S. outbreak are rarely fatal, and most people recover in 2-4 weeks.
Vaccine for mpox can help to prevent disease or make it less severe. If you think you may have been exposed or have symptoms, contact your health provider immediately. Visit our mpox vaccine page for more information.
If you have symptoms of mpox you should contact your health care provider immediately for an evaluation. People with symptoms may also be seen at Public Health's Sexual Health Clinic.
