You are not alone – Behavioral Health Recovery Month
Earlier this month, the King County Council recognized September as Behavioral Health Recovery Month, noting that preventing and overcoming mental health issues and substance use disorders are essential to achieving a physically and emotionally healthy lifestyle.
The road to recovery can feel lonely, but you are not alone. Recovery is a process and can take many paths, but it is possible and help is available.
Need help? King County’s Behavioral Health and Recovery Division provides mental health services to low-income people, as well as substance use disorder (SUD) and Withdrawal Management (detox) services. If you're interested in these services, call their Client Services line at 206-263-8997 OR call 1-800-790-8049. Learn more about what King County offers here:
Additionally, the U.S. Substance Abuse and Mental Health Service Administration provides a host of valuable resources for finding treatment and help:
What’s happening on Eastrail?
Exciting progress continues on Eastrail! Earlier this summer, King County Parks opened up the latest segment of new trail from Kirkland to Woodinville. The brand-new section of trail links up Kirkland’s Cross Kirkland Corridor with the Sammamish Trail.
Early next week (Monday to Wednesday, Sept. 26-28), Eastrail will be closed in Bellevue approximately between the South Kirkland Park and Ride and the Spring District in Bellevue for work to design the new Northup Way connector which will connect the Eastrail to the 520 trail. This project is a great public-private partnership between the County and REI Co-op and Facebook. I helped secure the County’s $500,000 portion in the last budget and REI and Facebook chipped in the remaining $2 million.
Early next week (Sept. 26-28) this Eastrail Bellevue segment depicted in orange will be closed to trail users
Kirkland’s Totem Lake re-development made great strides earlier this month when Kirkland’s Totem Lake Connector contractor mounted two bridge spans over NE 124th Street. This exciting trail bridge is expected to open in spring 2023.
