Coalfield play area gets a
makeover
The play area at Coalfield Park
is now complete and ready for folks to enjoy! The old play equipment was replaced
and rubber tile safety surfacing was also installed. This project is
funded in part by the voter-approved 2014-19 King County Parks, Trail and Open
Space Replacement Levy.
And why not make a day of it
and stay for a special showing of “Fantastic Mr. Fox” at
the Big Backyard Movie Night on Saturday, July 29. The movie will be
projected onto a 40-foot tall inflatable movie screen, so invite your friends,
teammates and family - we’ve got space! Seating opens at 7 p.m., movie starts at
dusk (around 9 p.m.)

Pianos in the Parks returns
to Steve Cox Memorial Park
Our local parks are here for
everyone – providing us all with green spaces to relax, exercise and connect
with our communities. Add in some great free music and arts programming and you
get: Pianos in the Parks!
This is a public art and event series that uses the power of music
to get us out to discover parks, connect with people, and have fun. Check out
the piano at King
County’s Steve Cox Memorial Park on July 29 and look for more piano
locations via the website.

Summer fire safety tips
Whether you are roasting
marshmallows over a campfire or grilling dinner in the backyard, it’s
important to follow fire safety guidelines to protect your family and
surroundings:
- Clean your grill after each use. This will remove grease that can start a fire.

Maintain a 3-foot safe zone around your grill. This will keep kids and pets safe.

Keep an eye on your grill, fire pit, or patio torches. Don’t walk away from them when they are lit.

Never allow your campfire to burn down on its own. Extinguish campfires by soaking burned wood with water. Then stir and mix water with the ashes and sand until the fire is completely out.

of raw oysters, and as the summer heats up, we anticipate more. Visit Public

4Culture, King County’s cultural funding agency, is seeking
applicants from unincorporated King County to apply for a Community 4Culture
grant – providing operational support awards up to $25,000 for organizations
and $10,000 for individuals. The program’s goal is to better fund an arts and
cultural community that reflects King County’s diverse population.
