Summer fire safety tips
Whether you are roasting
marshmallows over a campfire or grilling dinner in the backyard, it’s
important to follow fire safety guidelines to protect your family and
surroundings:
- Clean your grill after each use. This will remove grease that can start a fire.
-
Maintain a 3-foot safe zone around your grill. This will keep kids and pets safe.
-
Keep an eye on your grill, fire pit, or patio torches. Don’t walk away from them when they are lit.
-
Never allow your campfire to burn down on its own. Extinguish campfires by soaking burned wood with water. Then stir and mix water with the ashes and sand until the fire is completely out.
Raw oyster warning
In
the last few weeks there has been a spike in illness associated with consumption
of raw oysters, and as the summer heats up, we anticipate more. Visit Public
Health’s blog to learn what’s
making people sick and how to avoid getting ill eating our favorite bi-valves.
