 IECMH Statewide tour
Your HCA IECMH team is coming to see you! This summer, we will be visiting each region of the state, hosting listening sessions to hear from mental health providers about their experience serving families of young children and community networking events open to all local organizations.
While not all dates are finalized, we currently have registration open for listening sessions in the Spokane. Greater Columbia, North Sound, Pierce, and King County regions. You can visit our IECMH Statewide tour webpage to mark your calendar, register to attend, and spread the word with our marketing materials.
MHAYC Implementation report
We just published a new report, summarizing the feedback of 20 different providers on their experience implementing a new set of policies referred to as Mental Health Assessment for Young Children (MHAYC). Providers reported that MHAYC policies have made billing for IECMH services easier, increased provider competence in serving young children, and improved access to developmentally appropriate services.
IECMH Service Models toolkit
In response to feedback from the provider community, HCA's IECMH team has developed a toolkit on service models for providing IECMH services through Apple Health. This new toolkit covers avenues to provide mental health services and bill Apple Health for these services, requirements to become a licensed provider with Department of Health (DOH), and other key resources.
IECMH flyers
Check out this new set of flyers about the basics of emotional health for babies and toddlers, and how we all can play a role in supporting families of young children! The flyers are designed for either print or digital dissemination, with customized content for different audiences, including behavioral health, child welfare, early learning, and health care providers. Find the flyers on the Barnard Center for IECMH webpage, under IMH Messaging Flyers.
Behavioral Health Provider Survey
The 2023 Behavioral Health Provider Survey is now underway! Did you know that this survey asks specific questions about infant-early childhood mental health services? The results from last year’s survey helped inform the first ever report on Behavioral Health Agencies Serving Infants, Toddlers, and Preschoolers in Washington State, which found that only 8% of behavioral health agencies in Washington serve infants and toddlers.
We know that not all agencies were represented in last year’s survey, and we’d love for all IECMH providers to be included this year. The survey is sent directly to agency directors; to learn more about completing the survey, please review this bulletin or email Felix Rodriguez.
